Family unity is often important, which is why family members often share the same faith. That would probably be why he's a Muslim as opposed to any other faith, though I certainly don't speak for him.

I see a very uncomfortable - really, unsustainable - tension, between "well, I know this is BS but it's BS I dig" and the fact that the very BS you're digging, is a self-contained, self-referential detail-view of the universe which insists upon being taken as literal truth.

Well I live in the 3rd most populas muslim country maybe that has something to do with it.
