Well I don't know if it is fair to say Hotfoot has been screwing us with plot twists. So far I can buy everything that has happened so far as a logical consequence of character's actions. Not every NPC has been out to screw us for instance. The Arbite commander was quite helpfull to Octavious for instance. Also, when I was confronted with arbites after my first gun fight, they didn't arrest or kill me. (In fact, the arbites could very well be persuaded to be are friends. I do think the commander offered us some help if we could bring him some hard evidence....)
And as far as the gangers go, why should we have expected them to be anything but untrustworthy? We are outsiders, and they are going to push us until we push back. And their leader isn't going to back down in front of his men, otherwise he's likely to lose face (and probably even more than that).
I'm thinking it just seems bad because we fucked ourselves early by pissing off that Lt. (Something else todo would be to test if we can return to that base). But Honestly, if Hotfoot was seriosly pulling out the Shrodingers gun loaded with magnum rounds, shit would be a lot worse. I bet their would be a lot more enemy gangers, every Imperial would be hostile, our assault of the compound would have been spotted and turned into a clusterfuck, etc. Honestly, we are making fairly good progress.
All of that aside, if it looks like we can't win no matter what, I have my ways of keeping the GM on his toes

I had Chameleon in mind when I mentioned tracking. It'll expose me to considerable risk, but I'm willing to take it.
This is 40K. It's a brutal, nasty universe that even gives you fate points to help avoid the worst because the worst is very, very bad. Even the right decision could get you killed. There is no "safe" option but not to play.

I meant less that the GM is trying to screw us, and more that we'll never be able to have it easy, with events easily souring if it ever starts to go too well our way. Such as the fact that the Balimek base probably had enough enemies in it to be challenging to the whole group, despite the fact that I doubt he intended for us to assault it so soon in the game (hence the comment about skipping steps).
Remember just cause Shrodinger's Gun is there doesn't mean its loaded with magnums. It just might be. In all eventuality its probably just a .22 meant for keeping us in line.

Well, thinking on things, how's this for a plan. We capture Mr gang bigshot. Then Octavious brings evidence of the heresy to the local arbite office, while the rest of the team guards the prisoner. We get the arbites , specifically the one friendly arbite, to interogate the man, and we share information. We'll have the arbite come to us with a select group of picked men. Or we can bring the prisoner to them. With that, I'm mainly worrid about getting a handcuffed, blindfolded, and probably injured man through checkpoints.

Some parts will go easy. We just won't know it until after it happens. It's the parts that go horribly wrong that will screw us and we'll know about them when we're stuck in the middle of them.

Little point to remember: Varnius still has the Balimek gang leader's map in his pocket.

I don't recall anyone giving me a map. The only ones Varnius has is the one in his head. He traced one out for the rest of the team before doing his cloak stuff because he spent time in the mines and can navigate through underground tunnels.Hawkwings wrote:Little point to remember: Varnius still has the Balimek gang leader's map in his pocket.

It was in the combat session. Varnius was controlled by Hotfoot, and spent most of the fight looking around in what apparently was the ganger boss' headquarters. He picked up a map of the underhive with gang territories and possible plans of movement/attack on it.

We all have full fate point compliment, they were restored at the end of the battle when we got XP.

People have used some fate points since then, actually.Academia Nut wrote:We all have full fate point compliment, they were restored at the end of the battle when we got XP.

Octavius is doing what he's been doing the entire time. Sitting. He could track varn through his scope and take his head off if that's what you'd like .
I am the hammer, I am the right hand of my Lord. The instrument of His will and the gauntlet about His fist. The tip of His spear, the edge of His sword. I am His wrath just as he is my shield. I am the bane of His foes and the woe of the treacherous. I am the end.

Alright, I'm declaring a roll call! Everyone who's still here and intends to play, post something to that effect.

I'm still here. And now for the in character reason why Quintos doesn't want to part with the gun.
Remember, in the Guard, the equipment is more important than the soldiers, and those instincts are well drilled in, so that he is more likely to listen to them than reason when he is exhausted and hurt.

Gangland people, the gang leader has insisted that you leave all your weapons "to be tended to". You have to fucking respond to that. Post or leave the damn game.

Actually, he did say to leave your weapons with Quintos and Nixios, since the former was so very insistent on making sure all the weapons were properly maintained.Block wrote:Still here. And no he didn't tell us to leave our weapons, he said to leave the captured ones.

Ah, my misunderstanding. Did they stand and watch us do that or walked off?Hotfoot wrote:Actually, he did say to leave your weapons with Quintos and Nixios, since the former was so very insistent on making sure all the weapons were properly maintained.Block wrote:Still here.
