I would vote to go with easier -- so long as you're still the one doing the numbers, because I don't know where to get them. :?:

Darn, and I just ret-coned my shipyards back to DWT from Disp. Make up your mind! :P

Well, I've posted my nation in the reference thread, and I am now taking contracts! Shroom Man, I would be honored to undertake an anti piracy campaign on your behest. For the proper monetary fee of course. Unfortunately, I will probably have to decline your offer of alliance. My neutrality is most likely an assest for me when I am looking for contracts.

And didn't Zor petiton the OMSK for membership? I seem to remember him doing so.
No, but a lot of other people did, publicly, and OMSK rose from basically three nations into a gigantic megapact.
And I remember the general pullout from Syndromia, but I don't remember what happened after that, how it get partitioned, and so on.
Syndromia was partitioned after the war ended and Syndromian generalitee capitulates, but an insurgency plagued the southern regions (I just put 100,000 people which is a way overkill pacification force for a nation so small as Syndromia, so northern regions didn't see that much unrest). However, after 6 months the terrorist activity - mainly connected with Libertia - died down in the nation, and so did heavy fighting.

Then, Syndromia was restored to independence.

King Tithonus has applied Asylum in the RT, providing information about Syndromia's generalitee plot to instigate this anti-Zor war and depose him, then turn to warlordism, as well as useful data against those criminals. He currently resides in a small city in the RT.
Maybe we need someone to take down a general summary, for an annual or bi-annual release? It'd be much easier for everyone to keep caught up that way.
Annual. We're only 2 years so far, so that would be easier to do. I'm pretty busy this week though.

Ah. I remember him asking somebody for membership. So it was probably FA or LUN then.

If you'll notice, while I suggested the idea I didn't volunteer for it. I'm not that stupid. :P

I suppose people could just submit brief summaries on what they've done and the Chronicler just compiles it or something.

Yes. Tithonus might return. ;) I actually talked with him about it.

Nah. Relying on people's action here where you post or not depending on free time is not the best idea, especially as combining a chronicle is fairly easy since all "real" info is in 1 thread.

Ok, I have a problem with the tourism numbers, as of now, because they seem, to be honest, fairly arbitrary. I mean, when did we all decide to squeeze out the small powers from the tourism business!

Also Stas, how many in game months until my transport is complete. I plan on making a trip to several places quite soon.

I did, in fact, pull them out of my ass because we have done nothing to really work on this. I made my post based on three things:

1-- Vulpesia is the only country that has continuously and actively hustled tourism in story posts, from the start. So they get a major head start.

2-- Of all the major world powers, Canissia and the Bear Republic are NOT engaged in hostilities with anyone. The only fighting Canissia has done was against the robots. Lack of war tends to give the appearance of safety. The only reason th eBear Republic lost out (barely) to Canissia this time around was because of a string of highly-publicized natural disasters.

3-- The numbers were just for the three countries. Added up, they don't account for 100% of tourists. The rest are shared among the rest of the world. And, with the 'free movement' agreement among OMSK, there was no way to quantify how many inter-OMSK travelers were traveling for pleasure and how many were traveling for work or school. So that whole chunk of travelers was simply not counted! :D

The statistics will even out as time goes on, since the tourism industry on New Terra is in its infancy. Right now, Vulpesia is the Las Vegas/Monaco/big destination spot in everyone's eyes; later it will be somewhere else.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

Ghetto edit-- when I say "Not engaged in hostilities" that includes the saber-rattling type of rhetorical hostilities.

note and the Bear Republic got caught making a hoax to try and make the waters around them seem "Safe" for tourists again. Not to mention the current bit of political unstability as a result of those disasters. Also the Bear Republic did contribute to fighting the robot menace. We bombed Zalbania from very high altitude with the Emporer Norton. Which is why the damn thing is currently not taking off again for a long, long, very long time. We actually can't afford to do that again.

Which leaves me, with only commenting on the issues, as a MESS nation borders me to both the south and north, so I had to comment, and at most, I had the typical pirate issues on the seas. I'll claim third place, but this is war.... of Tourist Economies! The Royal Rail Republic shall rise up, and become the best tourist beacon on New Terra!

Kingdom of Republicbergstatesville is not a MESS nation. I'm not sure who's running it either.

Republicburgstatesville is NeoGoomba's and it's in the FUNGAL AXIS and now the FUN.

Umm... I don't know what to do with it. Agri-nation? We already have Blastification's mineral-rich wastelands.

And I think since the FUNGAL nations are generally well off, our economy relies a lot on selling cheap junk and getting tourists to island-hop around a bit.

Then there's Shroomanian Satellite TV and stuff...

Screw warfare, it's time to figure out our economic capabilities.

The Byzantine welcomes the BBC from UKB to set up offices and to broadcast in Byzantium in competition with the Nicaea Broadcasting Corporation.

Copy of the PM being sent to people which the BBC seeks to open field offices in.
The BBC Seeks to open offices in your country wrote: The BBC(Blackadder Broadcasting service) is the most popular news service in the UKB and based off the same model as the Old Earth BBC. Plenty of on-site reporters on the ground and British people to read the news results in news that seems 20% more News-worthy than the competition.

The BBC is a 70/30 Private Company. 30% of it's budget comes from the government, specifically for satellite gear and transmitting equipment. The UKB government maintains no control over broadcast material except with UKB deceny controls which can be summed up as "Watch yourself, no naughty bits on full display, however between 10PM to 5 AM anything goes," However the BBC is currently on a four year plan to purchase their equipment from the UKB government, by 2012 they will be a wholly owned Private company.

Allowing the BBC into your country will promote greater openness, increases in revenue that taxes on the company will generate and a small bump in your countries Elegance rating. The BBC also strives to create a reputation for honesty and evenhandedness on most subjects.

However the BBC still is technically a government news organization. Censoring it will be next to impossible.

Do you accept Y/N?
I should also add the possibility of the BBC running your native news service out of business due to it's excellent broad-cross cultural appeal and slick production values, but that's not actually going to affect anyone in this game.

S.Korea is pretty much an anomaly but it has close to the largest civilian shipyard operations in the world, and China is seeking to fight that, and they are still quite behind at the moment. Not least, S. Korea is pretty much on par with if not exceeding the Japanese in terms of technology.

Can we assume we started with some small channels prior to that? After all, it's hard to imagine some of us not having any serious television at all. We could say that the increased competition forced companies to adapt or die or something. :?
