Assassin's Trek

Post by Peptuck »

A random Q gets bored and decides to play with the Star Trek: First Contact scenario.

Scenario A: By the power of Q, Altair is yanked out of the Holy Land shortly after the ending to Assassin's Creed and is dropped onto the Enterprise during the events of First Contact, about midway through the movie. The Q explains to Altair that in order to be returned back home, he must successfully assassinate both Captain Picard and the Borg Queen. Altair himself must be involved in the deaths of both characters; he is not permitted to simply stand aside and let the story play out until Data kills the Queen.

The Q gives Altair a map of the Enterprise and fills him in on the situation regarding the Borg takeover of the ship. He also gives Altair a dossier on the important crew members and a crash course on how to use some of the more common bits of technology, like the lifts and doors. He also makes sure Altair knows about the effects of a phaser and what they look like, and then sets him loose.

Altair is armed with all of the equipment he has as of the final battle in Assassin's Creed, including his long sword, short sword, throwing knives, and hidden blade. He also has the Piece of Eden but does not know how to use it; instead, the Piece emits a Radiation of the Week that disrupts transporters within a five meter diameter of the artifact itself.

Scenario B: Same as above, except Altair knows how to use the Piece of Eden.

Can Altair kill both Picard and the Queen and live to tell about it?

You're complaining that the story isn't the kind you like. That's like me bitching about the lack of ninjas in Robin Hood. ~CaptainChewbacca

In an enclosed space, Altair's impressive agility and skills as a Medieval traceur are not going to be much of a dealbreaker. However, he is very good with a knife, and should have little trouble killing drones with it. Desmond's 'memory' of Altair wading through over a dozen men at arms to get to Richard is probably not accurate, though his killing of maybe a half dozen knightly foes probably is - all of which would be smarter, quicker and more deadly than a drone.

And frankly, Worf took them down in close combat, and I can't actually remember Worf being actually impressive in combat. Altair demonstrates considerable skill on a fairly frequent basis. It's a little suspect, but he can effectively fight a swordsman (or group of them) using only the hidden blade, by dodging out of the way and jamming the spike up a man's nose and out the back of his head. However, it's suspect because it is generally hard to judge what parts of Desmond's 'memory' of Altair's skill is real or Animus game mechanics.

Though with a working knowledge of the Piece of Eden his victory could be practically assured. It might not work on the drones (which is unimportant because the drones are no more threatening than zombies), against Picard it would be dealbreaking. With scores of Altair's bearing down on him, he won't know who to shoot. Presumably, the Piece of Eden could also be used to make Altair 'invisible', or indeed just make Picard kill himself. Given that it's basically just a mind control device, it's uses are myriad, and on 'full power' is almost irresistable, given that it had power over Altair when it did not previously.
