Aliens movie GRAW2 force sub:
So I was watching Aliens today and it occurred to me, how would the ghosts react with an encounter with everyone's favorite xenomorph? For this assume by act of ROB, all the colonial marines from Aliens have been replaced with Ghosts from GRAW2. They are seamlessly integrated into the universe, with the exception that they only have access to their "real world" weapons (and the movie sentry guns) (SCAR, M468, M60, etc). Additionally, they will have drone support and two mules, one positioned near med lab/c&c and one accompanying them to the reactor. Captain Mitchell leads the team from the APC containing Ripley and Burke. Assume ammo will not be an issue in the sense that "oh hey we only have a shitload of 10mm AP rounds hur hur".
Assume this sub takes place from the beginning of the movie after Ripley agrees to go to the colony, how differently do the events on LV426 transpire?

I think any competent military would have a relatively easy time, the Colonial Marines were only in the shit because their CO (is that what that dude is called? The idiot in the movie who ordered them to remove their ammo) was incompetent. Had they bothered to research that whole "AP rounds are bad in this nuclear reactor" then they would be Ok.
So, I guess that means the dudes in your set up are fucked if they only brought AP rounds?

A joker, Vasquez, and guy who was touched in the head were the only Colonial Marines that made it out of the complex after losing their squadmates to friendly fire as much as anything else. Consider that they more or less alone were able to fortify a compromised command center and wipe out so many Xenomorphs Ripley was able to simply waltz in there and do pretty much as she pleased.
When you consider these guys had such poor fire discipline they not only let off a mag at Newt, and missed you kind of realize just how pathetic these guys were. When the director has our one squad of overconfident badly trained guys have to disarm their weapons before going in you know the director isn't that impressed with the Xenos.

Magical worst case scenario where they lose the ability to pull out as in the movie, setup a perimeter around the communication dish for Bishop with a clear line of sight all around and fuck any Xenos that try to attack. It'll be like World War 1.DPDarkPrimus wrote:They go in and pull out immediately after being attacked, then nuke the site from orbit.
The addition of that drone will even give them early warning as to where the Xenos will be coming from. Not like they need it.
Best care anywhere.

I think the set up kinda leaves Bishop out of the equation, since it only mentions Riplye and Burke?

If nothing else, they'd end up telling them to bomb the colony with them still in it to take out the Xenos.CaptHawkeye wrote:My bad. But hey, the Ghosts aren't complete retards. So I doubt they'd leave their ship in orbit completely empty. I can guarantee that Burke would NOT cause the trouble he did, because no competent military leader would let someone like that walk around unescorted after it was revealed that he was responsible for guiding Newt's family to where they got facehugged. Even if Ripley neglected to tell the Ghosts about Burke's plan until the facehugger attacked her and Newt, the revelation will result in a group of soldiers pouncing on Burke, tying him down while slamming their knees against his groin to deter resistance, and using whatever means they have to get vital info out of him (likely to include torture or the threat of it, which violates several international and, I presume, intergalactic laws, but by then the Ghosts will probably be desperate).
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.
Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.
They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)
