We've had over a year now to begin construction, and as a member of OMSK of course it would become necessary to build construction of Replenishment ships. Sure it does not have the raw media appeal of the new stealth ships we plan to build, but they are just as needed for national defense as any cruiser.

An international ring of corrupt workers have conspired in recent months to leak news of shipping times and cargoes to pirates and anarchists both-- some motivated by a cut of profits; others motivated by anti-globalization ideologoes.
"The ideological operators are the toughest," Tigh admitted, "A person with political motives in mind won't take or leave evidence that ties them to the crime as much as someone who operates for profit and self-interest. Those guys are easier to track down because half the time, they still have stolen goods in their possession, or mysterious deposits in bank accounts that have no explanation."
Most of the workers rounded up were in league with pirates. While Chief Tigh hasn't confirmed reports that some of the suspects were approached by Libertopian agents, he also did not wholly rule it out.
"We are still gathering evidence at this time, so it would be inappropriate for me to say whether this is part of an espionage net as well as a criminal one."

- You see, calm seas and short distances have revealed another potential for our ekranoplan technology. We present you the A-90 Orlionok project, at first proposed as a lightweight high-speed naval assault craft.
-I firmly believe this craft could overtake the plane in the battle for transportation over seas, and ultimately extinguish civilian aviation as one species destroys another, or at least diminish it's power and sway over the minds of transport companies.
Let me explain why. The wing-in-ground effect allows this craft to move at a cruise speed of 500 kph. It's cargo bay can be retrofitted as a passenger deck with some 150 high-comfort seats. The speed is enough to deliver a person to any point around Central Sea, which is the most naval and air traffic-intensive place so far, in a mere hour, and traverse around half the world in around 4 hours!
The Orlionok has a range of 2000 kms, allowing to transfer to almost any nation.
Of course, as a short-range transport it is clearly superior to short-range, medium capacity civil aviation like the Tu-154, or smaller craft.
It's advantages are:
1) no problems with possible airspace conflicts, such as travels in vinicity of Saddamistan
2) lower fuel consumption due to the WIG effect
3) the turboprop is powerful enough to actually fly as a plane, and Orlionok can rise to 2000 kms, meaning it can also land in any lakes, and directly pass over any obstacles, small islands, or fiord bays to land in the harbor
4) cheapness towards similar-capacity passenger planes - far lower operational costs
5) no problems with bad flying conditions, such as rain, fog or other weather problems
However, stormy seas will be a problem for Orlionok, unlike a plane.

The Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology has proposed that Canissia use it's own satellite navigation and communications satellites for geosynchronous orbit high above Canissia, sources say.
The idea would have applications for not only the militaty and border guards, but civilian applications as well. A combined GPS system for civilian applications would be liked with the communications system, making it possible to use GPS systems via cellphone.
Safety advocates applaud the measure, as do law-enforcement and rescue crews, but privacy groups worry that the system can be used to monitor citizens going about their daily lives.
AIR FORCE TESTS LONG-RANGE, HIGH ENDURANCE SPY DRONE
The Royal Canissian Air Force has tested a high-altitude, long-range spy drone for strategic surveillance missions. The latest test of the SR-167 Polecat UARV lasted for "several hours" over international waters and an "unidentified land mass".
"No one's territorial sovereignty was violated," says Air Force spokesman Major Tyl Kent, "We flew from Canissian territory, over open seas, to the edge of another territory and turned around to come back. Just to see if we could."
Part of the flight was controlled at long range by a airborne control aircraft serving as a comand station for the drone.
"We didn't tap into civilian or military GPS networks to navigate," Major Kent said, "The chase plane had a teleoperation suite that handled everything.
When asked what the likely mission profile for the drone would be, Major Kent pointed to the pirate and anarchist trouble on the high seas as an excellent example of a mission for the drone.
"If we were faced with crime on land, the police could handle it with conventional methods," Major Kent said, "But this international task force, and Canissia's part played in it, would be better served by eyes in the sky that can dart around, something an airship can't do."

The AT-01, or Automated Tank type 1, has gone on duty at Fort Garou this week. The robot has been given a patrol route to navigate that not only serves as a means to provide base security and surveillance, but provides a variety of terrain to challenge the 'bot.
"The AT-01 is a ready and capable system," Colonel William Axman says, "It's navigating on its own and adding to its comprehension base of terrain types and problem-solving."
The AT-01 is "armed" with nothing more than a camera, a loudspeaker, and a taser gun. Actual security is provided by human soldiers who trail behind the 'bot about a mile away in a regular Land Rover.
"Eventually, the 'bot will have armed versions," Axman said, "But that's a development for the future. Right now we're still getting in the basics."

Shadow pilots which have been attending the Shroomanian Ace Fighter School have graduated today. The pilots had spent several months in Shroomania training for the newly formed shadow empire air force. The pilots said that they enjoyed their time in Shroomania, and were sad to leave but duty calls.

Two new beach resorts have opened today, one is for civilian use and the other is for government needs. The civilian resort is open for all citizens of the empire and foreign tourists.
The government resort is a high security/high luxury resort intended for international conferences and the personal use of the FUN leaders and the great emperor Shady.

Wave of arrests sweeps over PeZookia
Security forces and police commandos have performed a series of morning raids today, working with information provided by ProTec operatives as well as Republic Intelligence Services.
Arrests were related to pirate activity, against which many countries have mobilized their forces recently. Apparently, intelligence gathered by interrogating captured pirates was sufficient to identify corrupt officials in several shipping companies, selling trade secrets for profit.

But there is another layer to the entire matter ; AEN journalists have learned that several high-ranking officials were working not for profit, but out of ideological conviction.

I can't say much more, but we have reason to believe that a unified international organization is engaged in a co-ordinated campaign intent on destabilizing civilized countries.", said the Interior Ministry spokesman.

The AEN has learned that an international command center was established in Navy facilities near Paradiso. This command center is apparently supposed to co-ordinate anti-piracy patrols all over the Central Sea and facilitate a swift and effective response to any pirate incident. The government has announced today that a huge program for construction of fallout shelters is to begin in Fiscal Year 2010.
"Well, the economic indicators for FY2009 were a bit better than expected, and because of proliferation of atomic weapons, we feel it is paramount to ensure the security of our population in case of a nuclear exchange", said the Minister of Defence,"It is important that people do not take this measure in the wrong light - we do not expect a nuclear war in any predictable future. However, one of the main qualities of life is that it is impossible to predict everything, and we must be prepared."
Not everybody thinks the same way, however. Several MPs were outraged at the prospect.
"This is what the government spends the tax money on? We do not need fallout shelters any more than we need needless social programs", claimed Ned Muschynsky during his parliamentary speech,"Rather than increasing spending, the government should be cutting taxes and stimulating the economy!"
The King claimed he will not oppose the project.

Therefore, the government will raise taxes in FY2009 - the total increase of the tax burden on the wealthiest 30% will be around 10-15%. This is a large increase, and the revenue will go towards funding social programs like housing, education and health care. We will also raise interest rates to cut inflation. Generally, our objective is to maintain steady growth and make sure all PeZookians get to share it."
Various economic think-tanks are criticizing the plan heavily, however. The King had this to say:
"If one more lobbyists attempts to get me to abandon this plan, he will get himself arrested."

A small Pirate base operating in Northern Vulpesia had been raided by the VSF (Vulpesian Security Forces), a small security orgnization that works with local police and the government. The Pirates had a small cache of weapons, along with a couple amounts of different currency from other nations. The weapons will be dismantled and the Pirates themselves will be put to a local Psychological instution to make the pirates functional members of society.

For almost a year and a half it has loomed high over the land of Crossroadia. Slowly rising high and higher to megalithic size as it consumed the nations resources in its construction.
A symbol of the Nation
Designed to be a self contained city as well as a symbol of Crossroadian Industry, economic power, and drive toward Science and engineering; the tower has become home to tens of thousands of citizens. While countless people have lived and worked in the tower since its construction, the government has announced its ‘official’ opening ceremony.
A City unto itself
Boasting a population of almost 50,000 people and a Office Employee number of almost 100,000, the tower hosts ever conceivable amenity for those living and working in it. From kindergarten schools up to a large sprawling University are housed inside, a total of 5 large hospitals are placed throughout the Tower along with Libraries, movie theatres, bookstores, Churches to the Flying Spaghetti Monster and ‘open air’ parks housed in huge atriums. Two immense FiveStar hotels have opened inside along with dozens of smaller ones.
An eye for sustainability
Power for the immense facility is being generated largely by Crossroadia’s newest nuclear facility (built offsite at a safe location). However the Tower is also covered in solar powers along with Wind generators to keep the tower producing as much of its own power as possible. Lower level facilities also store immense Hydroponics bays producing much of the towers food and farmed goods. Lower in the facility, large Recyclaling centers sort out paper, metal and other recyclable goods for re-use
Zeppelins circled the building as it lit up in the afternoon sun. Indeed throughout the Tower many Zeppelin dock ports have been installed for tourists as well as citizens coming and going from the Tower.

Northern Fort Bay, Originally settled by Slavic and Greek traders and exiles has been the Bear Republic's second largest trading port. With damage to Pirate's Bay Docks and slipways, it has become the largest trading port, primarily handling trade to and from Cannassia, The Fungal Nations, and others on the Northern Routes. However with recent anti-privateer activities tensions between the Macedonian & Slavics with the Minority Norse Population that were previously simmering have come to a boil.
Earlier this week The Fundamentalist Norse Church declared that the "Law of the Sea" was a violation of thier religion and cultural traditions, and are threatening any shipping going through North Fort Bay. The Norse also want the Bay Renamed Norse Fortress. This threat is quite real since the Island in question is a former Bear Republic Naval Base, and has ties to the infamous "Lone Wolf Admiral" of the Bear Republic, who is currently under investigation for dealings with criminal elements.

It would probably be a good idea to use the same small arms ammo wherever possible, same fuel mixtures for aircraft/AFVs, same arty calibers, etc."

San Antonio Business Journal
L3 Naval Systems won a contract for being the prime integrator for two Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Indhopal navy. The Vessels will be constructed in Corpus Christi for approximately $50mil each, and will involve companies from Wilkonia, Shinra, and Tian Xia as well.
L3 Naval Systems won a contract for being the prime integrator for two Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Indhopal navy. The Vessels will be constructed in Corpus Christi for approximately $50mil each, and will involve companies from Wilkonia, Shinra, and Tian Xia as well.

2009 had been a very good year for Protec, and thus 2010 was shaping up to be an even better year for the State of Indhopal. The Landing university was up and running, with a capacity of 10,000 students at the present. The parliment (and the heads of ProTec) were glad to announce a very ambitious plan for overhauling the deucational and health facilities on the island. It called for the ciostruction of four new major hospitals, as well as numerous smaller clinics. The Natiopnal Health care plan ws thus to be much improved, though finding new doctors would be hard. Meanwhile:
The pirates in the Central Sea had appeared to have stopped operations in the area, with many bands having been destroyed. The most skilled and well equipped appeared to have relocated, with only a few still operating in the Central Sea. Analyst's mainly atribute this to an extreme incease in naval patrols and the destruction of pirate information networks. The one band ProTec has been going after the hardest still kidnapped the crew of one merchant vessal as well as 3 yachts, before melting away. Negotiations for the release of kidnapped clients continued, but they were not going well. The pirates wanted more money.
Progress had been made into finding where in Libertopia ship schedules and other data had been sent to. ProTec already had a small team training portions of the Iron Generals army (for protective details for the General at this point, due to earlier incidents.) It was through him they learned where the pirates were basing from. To get the information ProTec agreed to sign a new contract with the General to train his combat troops, as well giving him the use of the company's squadron of attack planes for a period of six months. This was all to be paid for with precious metals and gems taken from the Iron General's mines. The details of these contracts were kept as secret as possible.
The payout from all this was the information that the warlord Spim Ramsley was sheltering numerous pirate bands for a cut of the profits and looted goods. He seemed to have been the fence for millions worht of goods and whole shipsstolen by pirates. ProTec took care verifying the information. Comms intercepts and work by agents on the ground in Libertopia confirmed the Iron General's information. Most of his inteligence was on the money.
This information was too valuable to just give away without care. Ex military men from Pezookia and the Shinra republic were chosen to set up a meeting with their former masters in which the intel was handed over. Those nations were chosen as they had shown a willingness and capability to operate in Libertopia, and both had definitely felt the sting of liertopian extremists. ProTec also offered to have their men in Libertopia liase with the other nation's militaries free of charge. (They were already being paid to deal with pirates by the insurance and shipping corporations as it was.)
All that was left to do now was sit back and watch the fireworks.

The Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas on 7th January every year and this year is no different. Byzantine cities were in full festival with people attending mass and celebrating new year in a week long celebration. Fireworks lit up the sky as people celebrated the New Year. The Ecumenical Patriarch sends greeting to all Orthodox Catholics across the world, wishing everyone a Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas.

The problem with Byzantine territory is that Anatolia is hilly and mountainous and there are many rivers to ford. As such, we have to place limits on our tank weight and emphasise on mobility while allowing a good deal of degree of firepower and protection." There is also suggestion of building up a new Meros (Byzantine term for Legion/Tank Corps). Among the other items to be studied were AEW aircraft and the Beriev AI from Red Technocracy is being considered. The formation of a Air Mobile Meros is being considered, and the introduction of new transport aircraft together with Kataphrateoi IFV variants will allow some degree of experimentation. If needed, new 4x4 vehicles will be designed and constructed.

With the expected retirement of the Andrea Corr-class Guided Missile Cruiser in 2015 the ministry is seeking to clear space in the existing mothball facility at Rocky Gorge Naval Base. Currently the facilty has room for a dozen total hulls and is already close to maximum capacity.
"We have an overabundance of cruisers and destroyers in mothballs," Brigadier General Lawrence Welk, commander of the Ministy's Surplus and Refurbishing operaitons, announced. " Given the need to clear space we have decided to hold an open auctio for the 6 destroyers currently mothballed there."
Officials indicated that public notice was given to all nations and that if no offers were taken plans called for scrapping the hulls to clear space. Officials also stated that the ministry has an open diplomatic Teletype line (PM) for interested parties.
