PRINCETON, NJ -- Hillary Clinton has edged ahead of Barack Obama, 49% to 45%, in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking update.
The four percentage point Clinton advantage in the April 28-30 polling is not statistically significant, but suggests slight movement in her favor after she and Obama had been tied the previous six days. Obama had held a significant lead over Clinton throughout much of April. The current margin is the biggest in Clinton's favor since March 17-19 polling. (To view the complete trend since Jan. 3, 2008, click here.)
Obama has had a rough few weeks in the campaign, with his widely publicized remarks about "bitter" voters, Clinton's decisive win in the crucial Pennsylvania primary, and renewed media attention to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the controversial former pastor of Obama's church, with Wright speaking out publicly this past week. Obama has also come under criticism from both Clinton and John McCain for opposing a proposal to suspend the federal gasoline tax during the summer months. As a result, Obama has moved from a consistent lead over Clinton to a deficit. Obama has just a few days to reverse the tide going into next Tuesday's Indiana and North Carolina primaries.
The latest general election results show Obama now trailing McCain by a statistically significant 47% to 43% margin among registered voters. Clinton and McCain are now tied in the general election at 46%, as McCain's support in relation to Clinton and Obama has picked up in recent days. -- Jeff Jones
Clinton and Obama are now statistically tied and McCain has overtaken Obama by a statistically significant percentage. Rasmussen just came out with a poll showing Obama suffering significant polling drops in New Hampshire (he used to be up on McCain 10 points...now he's down 10) and the race between Clinton and Obama has narrowed in NC as well.
Apparently the "bitter" remarks and Wright's recent grand tour have taken a bit of a toll.

McCain actually has his shot now. Obama's been undermined.
I really REALLY hope I'm wrong about this, but I'm forseeing with dread the inauguration of President McCain come January 20th.

What are you suggesting? That as soon as the nomination is settled McCain will slip back down to second-place status? That's a possibility, but so is the bitterness of the Democratic race seriously crippling the eventual nominee/Obama. I don't think anyone can really say how it'll go at this point.

When I was younger, I never really understood why people didn't vote. Now I'm beginning to see the futility of it all.
It's a systemic issue. It's what makes people WANT to vote for people like Hillary and McCain that's the problem. It's not just a matter of policy but their entire way of approaching the political process. After eight years of George Bush, I though that society had finally come to their senses and realized that the direction they're heading. is wrong. I know it's stupid, but it made sense at the time.
I'm not too upset though. I know three languages and have a highly valuable job skill. I'll survive, even if it's not in America.
I am capable of rearranging the fundamental building blocks of the universe in under six seconds. I shelve physics texts under "Fiction" in my personal library! I am grasping the reigns of the universe's carriage, and every morning get up and shout "Giddy up, boy!" You may never grasp the complexities of what I do, but at least have the courtesy to feign something other than slack-jawed oblivion in my presence. I, sir, am a wizard, and I break more natural laws before breakfast than of which you are even aware!
The media has been training every gun it has on Obama lately, plastering Wright on every surface while letting McCain and his boy Hagee waltz about completely unopposed.
It really seems to me that, for some bizarre reason, the media just flicked a switch one day and went after Obama like a Rottweiler on a dropped hamburger. Hillary's hardly been discussed the last few weeks and McCain is treated like some angelic being, above the fray and with no problems of his own.
If Hillary gets the nomination, I'm sitting this year out.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around! If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!! Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!
These general election polls are only marginally less useless then they were in May 2007 because we still lack a clear Democratic nominee. I'm willing to bet that once a lot of Hillar-er, loser candidate's supporters have a month or so to reflect on McCain's platform the Democrats will be ok.
Good God. There is an idiotic double standard in the Media, Just because reverand Wright is Black and supporting a democrat he gets all of the media's attension. I'm betting if he was white and supporting a Republican he wouldn't even be a blip on the Radar. This double standard shouldn't exist. I wonder what would happen if someone tries to make same attempts with McCain's Pastorial supporters.
I hope that Obama finds some way to combat this, I don't want either Hillary or McCain in the White House.
Another thing that I think needs to be changed is the American Public itself. I'm willing to bet that a majority of vorters that went away from Obama were either idiots or just trusted the media blindly. This is proof enough for me that the American News Media and the American voting public is a complete joke.

That McCain has a fucking anemic campaign, as illustrated by the fact he's back on Public Financing, he ditched a fundraiser on rumours off an Arab Hater's drunken ramblings, and that he's widely seen as Bush's do-over. That's what I'm suggesting. He's had a free ride.

The media has been focusing on Obama because they realize that if they don't, he's going to walk away with the election. If the media were actually a neutral impartial observer, this wouldn't be a race, it would be Barack Obama on cruise control. But no, can't have that, that doesn't sell papers. If they American public is not stuck to the TV at all times, how are all the media personalities going to justify their ridiculously large paychecks?

The rest of your thoughts are pretty much the same as mine. Media interests do not want a simple race, which is why they've spun the Dem primaries so hard that they can't pick a winner with nearly all the primaries done. What else would CNN cover?
If Obama fails to secure the nomination it could cause a lot of renewed apathy towards the whole process among younger Democratic voters. I know that during the caucases in my homestate of Iowa, this historically apathetic group turned out in droves to vote for Obama. honestly I can't blame anyone if the way obama has been treated recently in debates and in the press turns them off of politics for a long time especially if he loses because of it.
It's either going to be Obama or McCain. The only way Clinton can get the nomination is to steal it and (a) that's almost impossible and (b) even if she pulled it off, a large enough number of Dems will stay the fuck home in November to give it to Bruce Dern's creepy twin.

Damn, why can't there be a law stating that the press (as they are supposed to be respectable source of information ) can't abuse their free speech rights too much? If they abused the right to have free speech too much, spreading false information, misdirection and etc, maybe someone can step in and revoke their license as a news media company.
And finally get the media to be responsible for once!
Whenever I started to criticise any western media in other forums, from fox news to CNN, most of the people in other forums will keep yelling ' Free speech! Free speech! '

And you somehow think that the abuse potential of your censorship mechanism is less serious?

If not for the media, Obama probably wouldn't even be running this time. As I recall, within days of the 2006 election the media was obsessed with the man, going on about how charming and charismatic he was. It was the media that suggested he might go for the White House after only two years in the Senate. The only reason Obama is so big now is because the media made him famous. That's likely what Ferraro was trying to get at when she put her foot in her mouth. If Obama hadn't been such a "white" black man, I doubt he would have gotten more attention than any other freshman congressman.

That's what I've been expecting to happen since I first heard of Obama and liked him (as that is usually a good indicator of someone that the "establishment" won't let in. Nitram informed me that I'm being paranoid, and Channel 4 news told me the other day that Obama has pretty much won the nomination going by the popular vote and superdelegates.
I must say that I find it difficult to distinguish between USA media bullshit controversy for controversy's sake and what is actually going on, now.

The media's obsession over Reverend Wright should pretty much put to bed any notions that this country has moved past racism. McCain has the endorsements of several bat-shit insane preachers like Hagee (which he actively courted), yet he's gotten a free pass.
When it's a white preacher saying that 9/11 happened because God was punishing America for letting gays marry, that's totally okay. But if a black preacher says "God damn America" because of its racist history and climate, that's apparently unacceptable. The only people who seem to be pointing out this double standard are Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.

It really says something about the country when the only two people in the media who look at political events with a reasonable degree of objectivity are comedians.
