Stas Bush wrote:But those are MERC JETS!!! !! you're going overboard with that blockade.
They're still an outside military assistance, aren't they? Which gives a potential edge to one faction, and raises the risks that their involvement could spark open hositilities between the factions?
And it's not a blockade, it's a quarantine. We're not going to war with anybody.
Stas Bush wrote:Hell, you are instaling it already or just warning?
Warning. I suppose that means if anybody really wanted to test us, they could hurry up something now and get it in. But that would just have us begin an immediate deployment to initiate the quarantine. And would of course cause considerable displeasure.

Mmm... no mercs in Libertopia, then. Though the Libertopians would so love them.
I should really get working on that merc force. Give them a pretty mix of Russian, American and European fighters. They'd be so cool! Maybe have them patrol FUN airspace or something... awesome!

This is going to end up like the Cuban Missile Crisis of our World, but with Fun and MESS together, Sadamstan shouldn't get too scared.
Also, possible Afghanistan parallels here. Please don't let this end up too far south, I like the non nuclear world..

There is another alternative to military force: maybe we should discuss insidious, evil undermining schemes like large-scale humanitarian aid?
The basic plan would look like this: Recognize all three warlords as legitimate rulers, but make it clear that we won't provide any military aid to them. Not a single AK-47, no alliances, nothing.
Then lay out the basic rules: They get humanitarian aid, and lots of it. Schools, roads, hospitals and clinics, training and equipment for farmers, craftsmen and police, diesel generators, etc.
They have to provide security for all those projects, though, and make sure corrupt officials don't try to run protection rackets (and don't run them themselves...)
If they fail to provide adequate security, we back out. If any faction attacks any other faction, they all lose all aid packages.
The idea is to make the warlords more concerned with their internal affairs than warfare. In addition, they would benefit from stability in their own territories.
Details are obviously lacking, and there would be many problems, but it's an alternative. Discuss?

I support this, with the obvious caveat that we'll have to refine it. But in broad strokes I think this is probably the most reasonable chance we have of succeeding.
I'll bring it before the rest of the MESS.

Do you even cooerdinate political and military stuff in teh MESS at all? Begs the question really.

Nah, it's more like "Red on Red" oopsies. He'll have control of the city back in a week. Remember, this is Libertopia: Militias is what they do.
EDIT: And it was a Smash and Grab, as indicated, the LSRN taskforce is already heading back to the LSR. I have an idea of the BTR-60s being made from the State Factories of Saddamistan.

Wilkonia I have no excuse about, Tian Xian I thought was a Parliament Republic. Baal is listed as "General" not duke, and I forgot about whatever the fuck, tongue job? was a MESS nation.
I am a Duke but also a General at the same time. I just like going by the term General.

Hehe, I think I might reopen Lonestar's embassies.
Even though your anglo-saxon religion in Texas is still considered heretical, cult-of-mammon oriented nonsense by the Unified Orthodox Church (UOC) and all three large Patriarchates are unanimous on that, you seem to be a nice fellow overall.

He died quite probably. Former rulers don't score well with anarchists and revolutionries even if they "lay down" their rule.
I'm not sure though Volly controlled all of that on his own, it was probably never fully under his contrl (his postcunt it too small for that) and he was more like a joke authority.

Polygamy legalized? Wow. My nation's secular rulers don't really have to comment on that, and my clerics technically won't either (they have more urgent business to do).
But isn't polygamy an abusive practice, really? Unlike homosexuality, it's a relationship with severe psychological consequences for the female party.

We can have another international crisis with polygamist mormon cults in Canissia, then.
I was thinking about humanitarian efforts in the shower, too. Before even reading this. The FUN would be cool with funding three hueg hostipals, one in each Libertian "nation", provided that the local guvmints would make sure the hostipals don't get bombed. They'll be treating everyone and I guess ought to receive international funding.
How does that sound?

It really depends on the nature of the polygamist relationship. After all, abuse happens in traditional marriage, too.
In real life I do not advocate the practice, but at the same time I also have to apply the same standards that one would apply to gay marriage, which is that if it is a relationship that consenting adults enter into, and there's no abuse, then it is up to the state to prove it is harmful. The problem is the abuse, not the arrangement, and abuse is already against the law.
Polygamy as we know of it in the USA is problematic and abusive because the only people that have shown a willingness to pursue it are fundamentalist whackjobs. These are the "man as head of household, uber alles" types that would be trouble in any relationship.
Polygamy is a rare and strange relationship, but it does occur. People have "open marriages" (I've met a couple with such an arrangement, they have rules and boundaries and all sorts of agreements) and some really enjoy it. It's wierd, but it's there.

Well, if your a monarchy, you could declare Orthodoxy state religion, the Baptise the nation into Christianity, like Russia did.
If you're not, you need to assess what religions you have, and look for Orthodox believers.
If there are none, we can't establish a Diocese since there's nothing to make it of. If there are, the Unified Orthodox Church (UOC) can help you with that.
P.S. Orthodox leaders have found a way to help Ramsley without any state ties, or any OMSK dealings. 550 priests volunteered for pilgrimage to the Libertian Diocese, esentially private tourism.
