Ex) A Federation Standard has sensors capable of picking out INDIVIDUAL life forms. Warsie sensors can tell you if life is there.

Ex2) Federation sensors were able to locate a positronic signal parscs away, and pinpont them withing 10 meters. Warsie sensors could tell you that SOMEthing was there, and possibly analyze it.

But, in my opinion, it is the Warsie EVERYTHING that is superior, if only for my own personal ego.
Ah, this explains how a ST ship can miss a ship in PLAIN SIGHT that is hovering over the North Pole of a planet, with nothing else even REMOTELY near it (ref. "The Hunted"). This explains how in "Angel One," the ship was incapable of scanning for humans on a planet that was entirely human. In "Q Who?," the ship was incapable of detecting life on a BORG CUBE. This explains how a starship that happens to be in the Lagrange point between two objects can evade the Enterprise's sensors in "Survivors." This explains how the Enterprise was able to miss the survivors (in escape pods) of the Battle of Wolf 359, even while in the midst of the fleet. Note that these survivors were proven to exist in DS9's "Emissary." I guess you could also explain how a species can evade the Enterprise's best sensors in "Identity Crisis," even though (as Darth Wong correctly points out), the naked eye and a tanning salon could have easily solved the problem. I could go on, but there's really no need to. Star Trek sensors have been demonstrated to be spectacularly vulnerable to various naturally occuring phenomenon.

look at the ship stats on the fc's site. there are some seriously bad-assified fed ships (SEE: NON-CANNON) that explain the whoop ass unleashed on the imps. it is a pretty cool site though.
