Today there exists rail guns, which will not be deployable until 2020 at minimum from start to finish thats a sixteen year project. Funded by the Navy at a goodly cost, and you expect me to believe you did it in less than 3 years?
Like I keep saying, I do not have rail guns. I have never said I have rail guns. Rail guns are completely different from gauss guns. They are completely different weapons. Gauss Guns consist of one or more coils arranged along the barrel that are switched in sequence so as to ensure that the projectile is accelerated quickly along the barrel via magnetic forces. Because Gauss Guns have no sliding contact, no wear or erosion occurs to the barrel, and the working life of a Gauss Gun is potentially infinite. In this way, Gauss Guns are distinct from Rail Guns, which pass a large current through the projectile or sabot via sliding contacts. This creates a large amount of wear on the barrel. In real world, nobody has solved the problem of the huge amount of wear on the barrel in the rail gun. While there are numerous working versions of the Gauss Gun in the real world. If a kid in college can make a Gauss rifle that will shoot a small bullet faster than a high powered sniper rifle, then I think a country that is dedicating hundreds of millions of dollars to the research can do the same thing. So yes I do have Gauss Weapons. I just think it is funny that you guys say absolutely nothing about it until I come up with a weapons that will threaten your precious space program.

yes, I know, though I'm taking my time with them...

yes, I will be posting before the end of the month another "Sound of Thunder" post about a "Coilgun" test, which is a gauss acceration system and still technically quite workable.

Just as a note, I'll be transferring one of my Halifax frigates over to Mangka when my first F100 hits the water, as a means to help him secure his waters from illicit use by Triads or whoever. The rest I'll be selling as more F100s start coming online.

Speaking of which, what would be a good price for a used Halifax?

Fingolfin_Noldor
The 650 million should probably be about what an F100 costs, as-is. So if you're home building them, that would be about it. Though why you want to take the time and not just use me I'll never understand. :P

As for a license deal, send me a PM and we can work something out.

On the Olympic Games, GSEN still has its exclusive contract to broadcast it, correct? I want to work something out with BBC for these games.

Indeed.

The games start in "a couple months" so it'll be sometime after this weekend, since I again belong to the government for Reserve duty this weekend...
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

So apparently Saddamistan is invading Terra Libertia.

We're probably going to have to do something about this.

Shepnukistan is actually quite pleased with this; because now we don't have to blow the head of the Sultan off, since Saddamistan will do it for us. 8)

Point conceded on the difference between Gauss and Rail guns. I was unfairly lumping the two togther, more on that in the next quote.

1. Until your Gauss can reach 1,200 km, it can't reach the lowest of my satellites. I've not seen you claiming that kind of range, and if you are, it changes the metrics.

2. There exists one serious problem with your calculations, simply put Gauss Gun's are not efficient, in fact the best efficiency I've been able to find is 4% for a Gauss/Coil gun. What efficiency do you factor into get only 170 mw to accelerate a 4.5 Kilogram(10 pound) rod at 20 kilometers a second?

Please show you work

3. Finally there exists a problem common to Rail-guns and Coil guns that I mentioned but was glossed over, that of the issue with a cascade failure with the electromagnets. It's even worse in a Coil gun than a rail gun. A rail gun will react after the rail has left the barrel, the coil gun might send the projectile backwards and if the cascade is big enough, burn out enough magnets to make the barrel-unusable.

Worse, and here's the real kicker the more power you pump in, the greater the chance of a cascade failure. The tolerance's required to build your monster gun are beyond modern material science as even one slip up will result by your own estimates in arching with megawatts worth of electrical energy.

If they use bioweapons, in contravention of the ban, they will discover what it's like to live without water and power.

If they use bioweapons
They have made lots of them anyway. I propose an intelligence operation to get a grip on what Saddamistan really made.

Biological agents are a casus belli - the only thing that stops me personally from immediately declaring war on Saddamistan is the fact that apparently they were procured in secret and so far unknown to the world community.

You can't quite obviously, that would ravage most of your nations. But we can.

Saddam contravened the ban. He must be made example of, or we will show that all our "alliances" are nothing more than the apparently toothless UN of our world.

Dude, I've an obscenly high post count, used to be a supermod, am a senator, and a mini-mod like him. If he does use bioweapons, I'll just follow sheps advice and start dropping heighted aluminum and mylar gliders holding bombs of volcanic ash at him, from waaay back, and high altitude. and simply turn his air defense into a blind toothless wreck and let who ever wants to play world police against him, chew up his ground forces. Since the radar and most electricals won't be working thanks to the gliders....
