Last Man Standing

Post by Robert Treder »

The following characters are in a bar. None of them know who the others are, but they aren't confused or thrown off by the fact that the others might come from different time periods.
They are armed with whatever they are usually armed with in their indicated movies.
Something happens (I don't care what) and they all simultaneously come to the decision that everybody must die. Who's the last one standing (and alive)?
If you'd like, also post who the first one to fall is.

Oh yeah, this is all for highly important, very scientific research.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Sorry, I have to go with Toshiro Munfine. In Yojimbo he beat a guy with a gun and all he had was a sword.

But Toshiro Mifune isn't Kambei, he's Kikuchiyo.

I cast my vote for Alonzo Harris, but I might be swayed to change my opinion later. As I see it now, it's like this:

Chris: Dead-eye with a six-shooter, extremely fast. Good at CQB but best at middle distances. His disadvantage is the small clip in his primary weapon. He would then have to switch to a second pistol (which I think he does in the movie) or pull a knife. Second or third to drop.

Alonzo Harris: Excellent at CQB, two handguns for a lot of stopping power, and a dogged determination even after being shot many times. Main advantage would probably be weaponry.

Han Solo: Hands-down winner for firepower with his BlasTech DL-44. The equivalent of a hand-held grenade launcher is a definite plus for him. He's a very good shot, and is skilled at bar-brawl situations. His pistol doesn't have the fire rate of some of the other guys's, and ultimate firepower isn't a guaranteed victory against so many opponents. Fourth to drop.

Michael Sullivan: I think he used a Colt 1911 pistol. Big power, small clip. If he has time to assemble his Thompson, things are looking good for him, but given the other contestants, he probably won't have time to do that. He's a good shot, and has proven himself capable in some pretty intense firefights. All the same, I think he's the first to drop.

Kambei: Obvious major disadvantage in not having a ranged weapon, but fortunately for him, the battle is close quarters. He's very fast, and the length of his blade is an advantage. He's proven able to cope with arrows and primitive muskets, but neither of those are semi-automatic pistols. Second or third to drop.

William Munny: Great with a shotgun and a pistol. A very quick draw, and he proved himself to be extremely quick-moving in combat, esp. when he took down Little Bill, dropping his shotgun, drawing his pistol, and firing, all before Little Bill (an extremely quick draw) could draw and shoot. I say he's the penultimate; finally being taken down by a bullet from the very battered Alonzo Harris.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Why is Alonzo holding his gun sideways in the picture posted above? I thought you weren't supposed to do that.

Better for CQB because it leads itself to John Woo style gunfights :D

I'd agree with a few modifications.

Mike Sullivan is NOT the first to drop. Rather, he is the last, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and his Tommy from the get-go, assuming all combatants are free to use the most powerful of their usual weapons from the very beginning. The sheer rate of fire, combined not only with stopping power but a large (50 or even 100 round) magazine would mean that everyone else would drop almost at the same exact second.

But putting that cheater BS aside, I'd have to give it to Munny, because of his quick draw on the shotgun, he'll blow away ALanzo quicker than Sullivan with his Tommy can. Switching those two, I would have to perfectly agree otherwise.

I'll buy that.

Oh, and silly Mr. Bean; he's holding the gun that way because it's so cool!
