My computer is obsenely bright.

Every now and then my computer screen becomes maybe five times brighter, stopping me from seeing vaguely bright things in any real way. This always happens when I am browsing the internet. The display settings don't change in any way, and any attempt to make the screen darker just makes it dark and equally retarded. Does anyone know what might be happening to cause this?

(And yes, I'm using Vista. hur hur hur

Maybe your monitor has a dynamic brightness thing? Some TVs adjust their settings based on ambient light and image saturation, so in games it can be obvious. It'll be controllable from the OSD.

What Supes means is, is it a big, bulky, old-and-busted CRT, or is it one of those slim and sleek, new-hotness LCDs?
