And where does Gandalf exactly use this spell in the books? Maybe he should cast the super mega Hadoken o' doom instead!

Simply because he doesn't use a banishing spell in the books doesn't mean he couldn't use a banishing spell at all.

Using your logic then we could say the same about Tyrael. Just because Tyrael doesn't use a banashing spell himself in the game doesn't mean that he too isn't cabale. If anything, we do see Tyrael open up portals during the cut scenes at his mere whim.

Also as for this goes...I say Gandalf, if for nothing else we have at least an idea of his powers. Tyrael...zilch aside from two arch-deamons can chain him.

Have you outlined said powers? What are they? Can he open portals to other cities or dimensions? Can he travel to heaven and earth on his own accord?
