Help me identifying a setting

I would like to find out the name of a near-future sci-fi setting that I forgot.
The main peculiarity is that it exists in illustration books made by photographing scale model dioramas; the main author is IIRC, Japanese. The style was vaguely reminiscent of Gear Krieg and had suits resembling large, smooth pills with visors and protruding arms and legs.

There used to be a role-playing (or tactical, or both) game, called SF3D.

I have a bunch of the Nitto models, in my closet.
