EVE Online: Empyrean Age

Post by Jon »

So they finally released the feature site for the long awaited Factional Warfare expansion;

http://www.eveonline.com/empyreanage/index.html

Making PVP more accessible, apparently. Some interesting additions, I'm certainly looking forward to contestable empire space. The screens look good too, if they're accurate looks like ship models are being upgraded to take/show physical damage to the extent of losing hull and breaking up.

FYI for current/semi-current EVE Players that haven't logged in or don't check the news: Some RP thing had some Gallente officials meeting with Caldari officials at some economic summit. Caldari officials let them bring a Nyx (Gall. Mothership) into a 0.9 system.

The Nyx pilot rammed the Ishukone station where the meeting was at and blew a big hole in it. I think the video on the site partially covered this.

In game aftermath:

It continues to amuse me that the space-french are the surprise aggressor side. Not as bad as the golden-zealots... but eh.
Rule one of Existance: Never, under any circumstances, underestimate stupidity. As it will still find ways to surprise you.

I have to wonder, the features thing said something about occupation, does this mean that 0.0 alliances can start occupying lowsec territory and properly securing their importation routes now?

As far as I can tell, nope, because alliances can't join the factions, only individual players or player corporations- so empire space will become contestable, but between empires, which means systems may switch sovereignty but between the main four- and according to the live dev blog I listened to tonight, it's not just limited to low sec either, but obiously the higher the sec status the higher the soverienty and harder it will be to contest, I don't see Jita changing hands any time soon ;)

I guess one could make a case for bringing back some old, dead, and technically unaffiliated corps for this.

Hmm... after more than 4 years playing I've quit the game (EVE-free for 6 months now - forgot to switch to Marauders V just before my acount got inactive :evil: ).

I'm not sure if this expansion will regain my interest and to be frankly, I'm a bit scared to check it out and get drawn in again.

Now, if someone bought my excellent alt for a couple of billions... maybe :wink:

Agressive? Yeah I remember that they were always up for a fight

Don't remember them winning though :)
