Except of course that the threat was long over before she shot Natalie. Projection or no, she had effectively ended the threat of the projection, assuming it was the right interpretation (which of course it wasn't if you look at the evidence). There was no reason to kill her.

If she'd been responsible and shut the goddamn door when she came in, the whole thing probably wouldn't have happened. She showed pretty gross incompetence, which is forgivable to a point, but at the point when the immediate threat is over and she has a chance to think about the situation, she should have concluded that shooting her was unnecessary.

Then she shot her twice, just to be sure.

The only way I can really justify her action is that we have seen her go illogically insane before when it comes to her kid (a reaction not completely unreasonable), such as bashing her skull against the glass of her cell when they wanted to kill her baby. But it was just such an unreasonably stupid thing to do, with the threat passed and Natalie assuring her that they had no intension of taking Hera.

It almost makes me wish they don't reach Earth. We don't need these kinds of wackos infecting our planet.
It's Jodan, not Jordan. If you can't quote it right, I will mock you.

People seem to forget that Athena is just another Cylon model, which means that she is still, to a degree, emotionally off-kilter (her experiences with the humans have probably helped her emotional growth immensely but the point remains). With her somewhat underdeveloped emotional state coupled with her huge distrust/fear of the other Cylons regarding their intentions with her daughter, its no wonder she flipped shit.

Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know...tomorrow."

I'd tend to agree with NeoGoomba. Athena is an Cylon, which almost by definition makes them have somewhat poor to terrible impulse control. The question is what sort of hell she's going to pull down. On one hand, she wasted without provocation the leader of the Sixes... but on the other hand, I can't exactly seen any of the Colonials being exactly that choked up over it, given they are still debating whether or not to just double cross the Cylons and just blow up the juicy plum they gave them.

It makes you wonder about the Cylons though about why they made such a clear centralized weakness though. It seems like a really bad idea to have a central processing hub for the Resurrection ships, rather than have each ship be independent units or multiple redundant hubs. I suppose it's the Stargate idea where the Great Menace To Humanity must have a single large exploitable weakness that will kill all of them forever until the writers decide to bring them back.

Quick question: Why wasn't there an episode ("Sine Qua Non") aired on the 23rd?

So Sci Fi could do one of their silly little Memorial Day weekend movie marathons.

Ah, a movie marathon. Did they at least show movies worthwhile watching, or was it a bunch of garbage?

Friday and Saturday it was just their typical direct-to-video junk. They actually showed some "real" movies on Sunday, but even that was restricted to duds like Cabin Fever, Resident Evil, and Queen of the Damned. Today it's an Enterprise marathon.

Is there a betting pool yet on when someone in their marketing department finally convinces the management that ratings would pick up a bit if they dropped the stigma of being the "Sci-Fi Channel" and went with somethig more hip, like "The Thrill Channel" or something equally lame?
