It doesn't really matter, the best bit about that 'scene' was the fact that Vader sounded 'extremely' pissed off when he says it. The 2005 re-edit makes him less pissed off sounding & adds unnesecary shite.NecronLord wrote:Huh. That seems a bit strange. Exactly. If they really wanted to keep the scene, they could just have the shuttle landing instead of already. being on the pad, but the line should NEVER have been changed.DocHorror wrote:It doesn't really matter, the best bit about that 'scene' was the fact that Vader sounded 'extremely' pissed off when he says it. I admit that it's unrealistic. As you said, it's nothing but a fantasy (yes, I occasionally fit one in between my Karen Traviss ones--I get calluses). That's why God created fanfic. Unfortunately, I can't write my way out of a wet paper bag.Illuminatus Primus wrote:Just because I think you're being silly doesn't mean I like the prequels over all or that would be what I did with them. Its simply not realistic.

Okay, if I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, I apologize.
And no worries about having your own idea about how it would be better - I have the same. We'll have a thread about it soon since I even came up with an outline et al. However, what I disagree with is trying to get early "pure" Lucas to agree with you, which is what Brown and a lot of purists do. And its the source of their sense of betrayal (especially vis-a-vis Brown) toward contemporary Lucas over the prequels and EU.

News: IT'S DONE!
Don't worry, this is actually a new update...
The premium quality DVD9 edition (and the final cut) of Star Wars Revisited, with more bonus materials,
was recently released (on newsgroups now,
t0rrents to come soon).
Available in PAL & NTSC (gosh this sounds like an advert,
sorry!).
You can read the info here:
http://fanedit.org/wpTF/?p=495
Here's the thread at OT.com
PS: The first cover listed on the page is actually a scanned oil painting
the author did himself.
PPS: The "purist edition" is just a no frills version of the DVD5,
minus the prequel and boardroom music.

Some changes that are planned so far for this edit:
Complete colour correction
New Emperor hologram so he looks more like he does in ROTJ than he does in the ROTS
Boba Fett's original voice restored
Shortened Wampa scene
Removed SE elements of Vaders shuttle leaving Bespin & docking with the Stardestroyer
More AT-AT's
Here's the Teaser trailer. please note that all elements are just concept ideas and are not finished FX
Here's a visual comparison between the basic colour correction (not final) for Revisited and the horrible colours in the 2004 DVD

I kinda thought that too at one time, but let's face it... it was accidental, it's inconsistent, and it didn't exist in the film until 2004 (unless you count the super degraded original negatives).Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Honestly, I think the interiors for Echo Base look better bluish.
It helps contribute to the atmosphere.
The blue tints actually run all through the 2004 editions, but I noticed it first in ESB:SE. When people started posting comparisons for the other movies and I got to watching the originals again, I noticed them all over. Then you get red and green tints in other places. The colors are all over the place!

It's out on newsgroups right now (there's a fix for the NTSC version because it had some problems), which I don't really want to bother with.
Someone is putting it on rapidshare now and supposedly it'll be complete the day after tomorrow.
Someone else is torrenting it so it should be up there by tomorrow if all goes well.
Apparently there's also an xvid of the "purist edition" now (see fanedit.org's page) too.

To be honest, I can't remember. You'd have to check the OriginalTrilogy.com forum thread on that (in the SW Fan edits forum). He's talked about various tweaks and I am guessing that's there, but don't know for sure.
Basically as I understand it, adywan claimed to be feeling "burned out" and was going to take "several months off" after finishing ANHR and so we shouldn't expect ESBR for a year or two. But then he started working on it virtually right away, so who knows when it's really coming out (my guess is 2 years, which is about how long this took before he released a full length edit, give or take six months).
Most of that thread though is people posting their own feedback on how it should go, and most people seem to want "bring my shuttle" restored than not.
Of course there's also a lot of folks voicing the desire to have the death star "in construction" inserted into ESB (which I think would be really stupid). So if you want to give the guy feedback, now'se your chance!

Why? He is a clone, but he stopped hearing that dumb accent when he was 10. Why 23 years later would he still have it? You could even chalk up the different voice to the helmet. Not like we haven't seen THAT before. Besides the voice acting for those scenes sounds like shit.Pint0 Xtreme wrote:Eh, I like Boba Fett's new voice. It's more fitting knowing his heritage.

I guess outside the fan edit community (and OT.com) it's less well known (OOT, OUT, etc).
Amen about the new Boba Fett voice. I heard that adywan wants to re-color all the TIEs in ROTJ and ESB to gray to match ANH, which I think is a mistake (and I thought the whole point was that this was to signify the death star squadrons). Sadly, there's some problem with my account, so I haven't been able to voice my (constructive) protest on OT.com in several weeks.

It's the same helmet Jango wears and his voice still sounds the same. The clonetroopers all sounded like Jango as well even though most of them probably never even heard that accent.havokeff wrote:Why? It didn't bother me that much. Honestly, putting in the old Boba Fett voice is enough for me to call pass on this one.Besides the voice acting for those scenes sounds like shit.
I thought he personally trained them? Now, I wouldn't expect him to individually train all 3.5 million (heh), but I imagined he narrated the training videos or flash imprinting or whatever. Or the ones he trained trained the others and so forth (and picked it up that way).Pint0 Xtreme wrote:It's the same helmet Jango wears and his voice still sounds the same. Are we to believe then that in Lucas' reality, accents ARE inherited?
If we want to speculate, perhaps the ones we heard speaking in II and III just happened to be ones that had been trained by him, and thus picked up the accent. According to Lucas, there are still Jango clones in the Stormtrooper ranks in the OT era (and in fact the "head bumping" trooper is one in ANH). Yet we don't hear a single one that sounds like Jango, and in fact, and they're different heights than Temura Morrison's digital persona in armor as well.
There was no reason to change it in the first place. It's silly revisionism to plug the prequels, like inserting Hayden Christiansen into ROTJ. So you'd avoid the edit just because Fett's voice was dubbed back to what it was since 1980? Each to his/her own I guess! It didn't bother me that much. That seems less believable. So you're saying that perhaps every single clonetrooper in Episode III were all personally trained by Jango? I mean, this is towards the end of the Clone Wars. Years have passed since Jango's death at Geonosis.Kurgan wrote:I thought he personally trained them? I think what's more jarring than an unexplained accent is the totally different voice. I mean the old Boba Fett doesn't even sound like Jango's son, much less his complete clone.
Which "head bumping" stormtrooper are you referring to? I don't quite recall that one.According to Lucas, there are still Jango clones in the Stormtrooper ranks in the OT era (and in fact the "head bumping" trooper is one in ANH). I don't think it's silly. Makes the entire saga more coherent, IMO. The incoherency really annoys me even if the voice acting was sub par. There was no reason to change it in the first place. It's silly revisionism to plug the prequels, like inserting Hayden Christiansen into ROTJ.
Well, I'm not going to be like "OMG! I'LL NEVER WATCH THAT!" but whenever I want to watch Episode V, the 2004 DVDs will suffice for me.So you'd avoid the edit just because Fett's voice was dubbed back to what it was since 1980? Each to his/her own I guess!
