Exactly. If they really wanted to keep the scene, they could just have the shuttle landing instead of already. being on the pad, but the line should NEVER have been changed.

Just because I think you're being silly doesn't mean I like the prequels over all or that would be what I did with them. Does not even mean I dislike everything Bob Brown said, but I do think its silly that Bob Brown/OT(or especially ANH & TESB)-only purists have a fixation with nitpicking and reading into the first couple films and tossed drafts the "right path" that GL abandoned. Its simply not realistic.

I admit that it's unrealistic. As you said, it's nothing but a fantasy (yes, I occasionally fit one in between my Karen Traviss ones--I get calluses). That's why God created fanfic. Unfortunately, I can't write my way out of a wet paper bag.

And no worries about having your own idea about how it would be better - I have the same. We'll have a thread about it soon since I even came up with an outline et al. However, what I disagree with is trying to get early "pure" Lucas to agree with you, which is what Brown and a lot of purists do. And its the source of their sense of betrayal (especially vis-a-vis Brown) toward contemporary Lucas over the prequels and EU.

I kinda thought that too at one time, but let's face it... it was accidental, it's inconsistent, and it didn't exist in the film until 2004 (unless you count the super degraded original negatives).

The blue tints actually run all through the 2004 editions, but I noticed it first in ESB:SE. When people started posting comparisons for the other movies and I got to watching the originals again, I noticed them all over. Then you get red and green tints in other places. The colors are all over the place!

It's out on newsgroups right now (there's a fix for the NTSC version because it had some problems), which I don't really want to bother with.

Someone is putting it on rapidshare now and supposedly it'll be complete the day after tomorrow.

Someone else is torrenting it so it should be up there by tomorrow if all goes well.

To be honest, I can't remember. You'd have to check the OriginalTrilogy.com forum thread on that (in the SW Fan edits forum). He's talked about various tweaks and I am guessing that's there, but don't know for sure.

Basically as I understand it, adywan claimed to be feeling "burned out" and was going to take "several months off" after finishing ANHR and so we shouldn't expect ESBR for a year or two. But then he started working on it virtually right away, so who knows when it's really coming out (my guess is 2 years, which is about how long this took before he released a full length edit, give or take six months).

Most of that thread though is people posting their own feedback on how it should go, and most people seem to want "bring my shuttle" restored than not.

Of course there's also a lot of folks voicing the desire to have the death star "in construction" inserted into ESB (which I think would be really stupid). So if you want to give the guy feedback, now'se your chance!

Amen about the new Boba Fett voice. I heard that adywan wants to re-color all the TIEs in ROTJ and ESB to gray to match ANH, which I think is a mistake (and I thought the whole point was that this was to signify the death star squadrons). Sadly, there's some problem with my account, so I haven't been able to voice my (constructive) protest on OT.com in several weeks.

If we want to speculate, perhaps the ones we heard speaking in II and III just happened to be ones that had been trained by him, and thus picked up the accent. According to Lucas, there are still Jango clones in the Stormtrooper ranks in the OT era (and in fact the "head bumping" trooper is one in ANH). Yet we don't hear a single one that sounds like Jango, and in fact, and they're different heights than Temura Morrison's digital persona in armor as well.

That seems less believable. So you're saying that perhaps every single clonetrooper in Episode III were all personally trained by Jango? I mean, this is towards the end of the Clone Wars. Years have passed since Jango's death at Geonosis.

I think what's more jarring than an unexplained accent is the totally different voice. I mean the old Boba Fett doesn't even sound like Jango's son, much less his complete clone.

I don't think it's silly. Makes the entire saga more coherent, IMO. The incoherency really annoys me even if the voice acting was sub par.

Well, I'm not going to be like "OMG! I'LL NEVER WATCH THAT!" but whenever I want to watch Episode V, the 2004 DVDs will suffice for me.
