besides we've already seen that water dillutes the effectiveness of the alien blood.

and if someone wants to argue that point with me, I'll go out and list all the instances from the movies where water or things that are composed of 70% water have suffered much less damage then metal objects have when exposed to oxygenated xenomorph blood.

Hell, movie Mobile Infantry could take on the Xenomorphs easily enough in a reasonably open environment. Really, there's very little that wouldn't kick a Xeno's ass.

That is if Xenos have asses. I'm not entirely sure on that point.

The thing to bear in mind in this "Xenos vs. automations" scenario is that it has already happened: Ripley battled a Queen with an slow, clumsy, unarmed loading 'mech, and won fairly handily. Going against dedicated combat droids of any sort? Heh!

I would bet on a xeno over a borg any day of the week. They're pretty strong and can lift people up and away (and remove their limbs for cocooning) without any issues.

Borg have guns and spacecraft. I'd bet on them, no matter how stupid.

The thing with Borg personal guns is that they only seem to use them if separate from the Collective.

In space, sure, the Borg win by default, but in a ground combat scenario the Aliens would probably win out. They're faster, have natural weapons, and Drones have never adapted resistances to melee combat (Trektard claims notwithstanding).

It brings up the question, though, as to whether Borg assimilation nanobots would work on something like a Xenomorph, given how morphologically removed they are from humanoids.

I would think that the nanobots would have trouble with the acid...

Spacecraft that routinely allow starfleet members to walk about unmolested and offer any number of potential hiding spots, yeah. Meanwhile, the guns tend to be ignored entirely in favour of walking like an oblivious zombie and relying on shields that are vulnerable to physical impacts.

Given time, and some xenomorph samples to work with I'm sure they could find a means of countering the acid. Frankly though I'd be surprised if they decided to assimilate them at all though - the Borg don't seem particularly interested in developing even halfway decent melee capabilities, and have so far tended to go in for humanoids rather than big ugly aliens, so aside from the formula to the acid... why'd they want to assimilate them?

I wonder what would happen if a hugger implanted a guy, and then say the borg injected the same red shirt what would happen?

Wasn't it established that the only way the Borg learn new things is by assimilating someone who already knew? It's why they needed Voyagr's help to take on Species 8472.

I wonder- could you kill a Xenomorph by simply sticking a nail into it and waiting ten minutes? Its blood will dissolve the metal in short order, which ought to deliver simultaneous lethal doses of some metal salt and bubbles of gaseous hydrogen in the bloodstream.

So, Bob the Builder could take down a Xeno with a nailgun. Sweet.

How many assumptions about xeno biology are you operating on here?

A lot more then the last person who challenged me for assuming that H2O was effective against alien blood. When I can point to scenes in each movies that show that the blood is only active after it's been oxygenated, and doesn't work in a water heavy enviornment.

Ok so this was a pretty bad idea ... if even the borg have a chance .... though in the pyraqmid scene where the predators are being overwhelmed would any of the various combat droids/or cyborgs have hope against those sort of numbers (ie the scene in avp where the predators go the whole MAD option to win)?

A group of organised daleks or necrons, perhaps. We know daleks can run out of ammunition, eventually, but necrons are (according to one interview) powered by something like ZPE, and unlikely to ever run out of ammunition.

Daleks (and some types of necrons) of course, could simply take off, hover out of jumping distance, and open fire at their leisure. Both Time-War daleks and necrons have a system that can potentially fry anyone that touches them (necrons only have it on lords, though the lords can confer this ability on groups of necrons with them). Necrons have also used grenades from time to time, that'd help thin the horde.

The others would run out of ammo in the end and get bled on.

Of course, if you upgrade them to combined arms forces, then air-H-Ks and cylon raiders make it a winnable situation for both of those forces too.
