New private board

Post by jaeger115 »

I've sent Wong a PM about my idea for another private board here at SD.Net. Its temporary name is Think Tank, and it's for discussing the future in hard science and technology terms. Warfare, entertainment, fads, genetic engineering, etc. Only science and technology, and no wankfests or technobabble. Anyone interested?

Except it'll be a DEDICATED board. Wait, maybe you're right. Any more opinions?

Really should keep it on SLAM.

I mean it's why it's there.

This could potentially make SLAM a dead zone, as presumably the most knowledgable science and technology types who keep discussions going in the public forum would spend most of their time in the private forum.

I see no point at all to such a forum.

One word: SLAM

A few words: We've had ideas similar to this thrown about in the past. But, it doesn't look like the desire for a purely sci/tech board is really there (except for a handful of us hardcore tech-heads.) Though I can see why one would want it to be a private forum. But would it generate enough traffic of sufficient quality to justify it's existence?

It's already covered in SLAM.

All right. I noticed that not enough tech is being talked about in the SLAM board. It's mostly full of religion-related talk and debates, so it would be good if we could get the tech-heads in here to really open up. 8)

The tech-head types can still discuss stuff on SLAM if they want to, and I don't see any need for a dedicated forum, if it's already covered in a forum already up.

Traffic on that forum is really not high enough to discourage people from using it to talk about tech; few talk about it on there because few want to in the first place. Creating another forum would just give us another forum with next to no traffic.
