Anyone have any recommendation for Freeware / Shareware ISO image software?

Here's a related question--what's a good way to create your own ISOs? I've got DVD publishing software that I use to create the DVDs I mail out to folks, but honestly I'd rather just make it, burn it to an ISO, and then create it from those than always needing to go through the stupid DVDmaker software. I'd also be able to turn all my old games into ISOs so I don't have them taking up space, and that would be totally cool for games I'm afraid are going to get more and more damaged as time goes on. An ISO is the perfect storage format, since I can always replace the disk that way, or just mount it from a virtual drive, or keep a disk hardcopy in case my harddrive crashes.
Hey, that actually gives me an idea. I should make a DVD of all my favorite old games. I had a CD collection of all these old interplay games, but I think I lost it, but I would still be able to store a bunch of these fun-but-rarely-played games all in one place. I wonder if I could 'install' and run them off the DVD itself. A game like Starflight or Wasteland is so tiny that I bet that playing direct from DVD wouldn't cause any issues. Is there any way to do that?

Most software that lets you burn a DVD will also let you "Burn to image" or "Burn/Save to disk," or a similar export command, and let you choose the exact disc image type you want (usually a propriety, a couple generic, and .iso itself).Covenant wrote:Here's a related question--what's a good way to create your own ISOs? I tend to start my searches for software nowadays with open-source, and I ran across Infrarecorder once upon. My roomate (who uses Windows Vista) tried it on my recommendation when he found he needed to write disk images (I think) and said it "did what [he] wanted it to."
