SD.net's World OOC/Discussion thread MK III
As far as aid/arms shipments going to libertopia goes, why not just announce what the hell is being sent. The main goal of sending them seems to be keeping the Sultan on his best behavior. If he knows his rivals are getting arms, he won't start stirring shit up. So if the international community, or just Libertopians help him secure his lands, maybe things will be stabilized in the North and everyone can get on to nation building. Alexandria and the Diocese haven't said they want any more land or anything, so the current borders pretty much suit everyone. The main problems are general lawlessness and the Sultanate's instabilty making a lot of people insecure. Solve those issues, Libertopia couls be very peacefull. (This is the government of Indhopal talking. Alexander may have other plans, and no one really knows exactly what he is thinking.)

My turn.
Also, those who enter alliances with either MESS or Saddamistan, can say goodbye to their weapon deliveries.
It would be one thing if you just went independent, or stayed in OMSK while I left.
No arms from me to any MESS or Saddam-affiliated nation.
EDIT: I also think that the SC has been reduced to just two members, so let all present here OMSK nations to vote:
1) preserve the alliance despite Shep and Byzantium going out?
2) support the ultimatum to Saddam, or not?
In case the OMSK nations support (1), the Alliance remains. In case OMSK nations do not support (2), I will bow down to collective will.
In case (1) is not supported, I stand firm by (2) and do it alone.

TO ALL FUN
Guys, it's time to hunker down in your bunkers and pray for the best.
Seriously, don't do anything rash. If the Shepnukistanis and Saddamistanis stay sane (unlikely) and if the MESS don't do anything to provoke these fucking MADMANGS, then we'll all end up alright. I guess.
Even if shit hits the fan, we have to keep a low target profile. Going with the MESS is just gonna get you targeted by the S-S lunatics. They're mad. They're nuts. They're INSANE!
We do not draw their attention. We maintain a friendly facade at them so they won't nuke the living shit out of us.
In short, life continues.

With BAM personnel already in Byzantium, you would have an easier time training Byzantine Airlines dudes in maintaining the BAM Aircraft than if you went with Boeing.
Also, the A320 is newer than the ancient B737 design.
Plus it's a good thing that Shroomanian material can be flown over Crossroads, not going anywhere near the Goddamn Shepnukistanis. The closest MESS dude is Canissia, and they're really close to the Shepnukistanis. And I think they're all about zeppelins, anyway.

The BAM Website wrote:The A318, A319, A320 and A321 are the world’s most profitable single-aisle aircraft. Their advanced technology and maximum operational flexibility result in lower fuel burn, reduced maintenance costs, lower direct operating costs and higher residual values than competing aircraft.
The A320 Family’s excellent economics result from numerous factors, including advanced aerodynamics in the wing design, the extensive application of lighter-weight composite materials, the use of fly-by-wire controls that reduce mechanical complexity, and the incorporation of centralised monitoring for avionics and aircraft systems. Wide underfloor cargo holds allow the A320 Family to carry more freight with standard LD3 containers and in bulk, adding to airlines’ profitability with more revenue on each flight.
Commonality within the Airbus fly-by-wire product line also contributes to the A320 Family’s economics. The ability to use a single pool of pilots, cabin crew and maintenance personnel for the A318, A319, A320 and A321 saves money and gives airlines maximum flexibility in scheduling and planning. In addition, the A320 Family’s similarities with the fly-by-wire A330, A340 and A380 enable operators to benefit from commonality with the Airbus aircraft product line up to seating capacities of 550-plus passengers.

Shroom and PeZook, what say you?

I will also lend my experience in SAM construction with S-300 SAM complexes instead of relying on Shep who is now nothing more than Saddam's unwitting shield against the MESS>

BAM is expected to produce aircraft in Byzantium and Shroomania. To avoid the rampant stupidity of Germany and France with regard to Airbus, we will seek to harmonise the design bureaus who will regularly meet and use the same software and also joint production will be done in both countries. FUN nations are welcome to contribute.

Does the FUN have it's own space program with rocket boosters?
I have space fighters (the SPIRALs) which need boosters to operate. I also spend time and money to build old, simple space stations of the SALYUT/ALMAZ series.

AFAIK, no, but the IRT is currently a major trading partner with FUN and is running its own space program (with some cross-technology development with the MESS for the boosters).Stas Bush wrote:Does the FUN have it's own space program with rocket boosters?
I know you don't like us all, but we'd be willing to sell rockets and infrastructure to FUN. As for space programs, we're trying to start one out. I've got Zor's RAR operating in the Comona Islands, but so far they're just bumming about.

I say aye. Though I have to be honest: I fear war with Saddamistan. But I also think it's unavoidable.Stas Bush wrote:So it is done.
Shroom and PeZook, what say you?
My current statement is cautious (hey, I just woke up from a coma...), but Idon't think we can just keep low and do nothing while the UAR runs around. I say the first thing we do is close down the Central Sea to UAR shipping untill they actually react to international outcry against the bioweapons ban.

Well, Shepnukistan built a pretty swanky missile production facility in PeZookia, in which my nationals have been spamming Blackbeard for two years now. We need a space program in order to have a comms network which is not reliant on other alliances ; I say we pool our resources and start investment from scratch. We need at the least geostationary launch capability, which means between 10-30 billion investment.Shroom Man 777 wrote: As for space programs, we're trying to start one out. Anybody has 120 billion laying around to finance that program?

The year ends at the end of this month, so I suppose May 31st will be New Year's Eve with June 1st New Year's Day, 2011.
Generally people post up various "Happy New Years!" posts to mark it.

I'd say someone else. Preferably somebody neutral to all of what's going on right now, at least for the moment. Fingolfin also has some reason to claim RP but given his involvement I wouldn't recommend him in the current situation either.

I gave Zor's RAR my Comona Islands for development. We can use that if we want an alternative to Atlantis.
Also, me and Bear are investing in stratospheric airships that can function as "stratospheric satellites" that incorporate the capabilities of both space satellites and ground-based receivers and transmitters!
As for the Moon Mission, screw it. I say we stick to utilitarianism. I mean, with the threat of nuclear holocaust over our heads, do we want to blow money on Saturn Vs?
We have Yosemite Bear with us, the Third Imperium of the New World, so we've got enough combined monies for an awesome space programme. With Shepnukistan becoming a pariah with Saddamistan, perhaps cutting its ties with the UKB even, I guess we can actually catch up and exceed the UKB's space programme! We can be great again!PeZook wrote:We need a space program in order to have a comms network which is not reliant on other alliances ; I say we pool our resources and start investment from scratch. We need at the least geostationary launch capability, which means between 10-30 billion investment.
And, hell. Let's try for a shot at the moons!
Anybody has 120 billion laying around to finance that program?

Yes. Because 50 years down the line, I want the FUN battlecruiser "Ravager Of Anuses" to warp into SOL and declare it our protectorateAs for the Moon Mission, screw it. Okay, you have a point. We should build up our defences first.
As for the space programme, I suggest a location closer to the equator. It will help us launch larger loads into orbit.

It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.
