If you do an electoral college breakdown with states being awarded on the basis of current RealClearPolitics poll averages, Obama wins by about 30-40 electoral votes. If McCain manages to pull Ohio and New Mexico, with every other state polling as it does today, Obama wins through the House. So McCain will need to pull basically all of the close swing states to win.

As of today it looks very likely that Obama will be president, and I the racial backlash has been much smaller than I would've expected, mostly because of Obama's message of unity.

There's one issue with that assumption, and that is McCain is untouched, for the most part his various issues.

Breaking the campaign laws he wrote
All the great John McCain dirt we've not yet see?
Why? Because McCain is the dancing Bear.

Trust me when I say that they are almost out of Obama nastyness and have to switch to "just making shit up" for the General election while McCain has a treasure trove of bad things. And one thing we know about Obama, he can raised eleventy billion dollars between here and then which means we get to see lots of campaign commercials about those very faults.

In short, now is a very bad indication of the future simply because on the McCain side we are still in "In theory" while Obama is getting "real world" polling data.

This kind of thinking is horribly dangerous. Not just for Obama, but for politics in general.

Under no circumstances should you wish someone DEAD just because you disagree with them politically!

Consider the backdrop of American political history and see just how damn bloody it is. Assassinations left, right, and center. Alien and Sedition Acts. Indian Removal Act. Trail of Tears. Wilson's Espionage and (second) Sedition Acts. The Business Plot (failed due to Major General Smedley Butler, but imagine the second Civil War it would have caused). Nixon's 'War on Drugs' which was really his personal war on the Antiwar Left dressed up as Law and Order, since abandoned and monetized by the prison industry into a new Slave System. Reagan's REX 84. And now Bush's 'War on Terror', which is again a cover for suppression of dissent here at home.

It gets worse when the implications all strike home.
