Neo-BSG Ending [Potentially Major Spoilers]
As per the discussion with Adama instigated by my brother and I.
- The many Internet rumours on who the Final Cylon is and what their purpose in this story has yet to be stumbled upon by any fan. The most popular theories are wildly off, so no Jesus Baltar or the barkeep being The One. My guess is that no one seen so far has any connection. Additionally, as Olmos already said he'd be against any really religious crap, the finale isn't that of DS9. Course, religion is still - and always has been - a major force driving events in the series.
- The final destination is Earth, but many secondary characters get killed off, as we have seen and predicted. The final toll is around the thirty-nine thousand mark.
Make of this what you will.

He has? When? The only thing I know E. J. Olmos said is that if any aliens showed up, he'd walk.Additionally, as Olmos already said he'd be against any really religious crap

Vympel, the alien and dodgy religious angle is what Olmos is against. Basically, cheesy stuff. Aliens especially, but religious aliens moreso.
Eleven people make it.
Ah, no. You read that wrong.tim31 wrote:So 'only' ~700 more people will die? That's more survivors than I expected, to be honest... I would have been surprised to see them make it to earth with half that.

That's taking the whole "Kill 'Em All" trope to serious levels.

Honestly if NBSG ends with only eleven people surviving that'll be kind of crappy. Maybe not if the writers can get their shit together before the series ends, but they've kinda' been on a decline since mid season 2 so.
Seriously, if the show ends up being "watch the human race slowly die off WOOOOO!" that'll suck as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly. I know some people have a serious hardon for "gritty" downer endings, but I like to see a series where the protagonists aren't royally fucked over at the end.Ohma wrote:tim31 wrote:

And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks
Downer ending can work, but there generally has to be more to it than "and then everyone died lol". For instance the endings of Blake's 7 (don't be a paranoid bastard), The Mist (don't give in to fear), and Brazil (sometimes fantasy is the only way to deal with reality), pull off downer endings exceptionally well.Darksider wrote: Exactly. NBSG hasn't really had any major over arching themes other than "THE CYLONZ/GOD/THE LOK HAVE TEH PLAN111" and "people suck, even robot people".

I stopped watching at the end of season 3 after the really shitty end of season, and haven't really seen any reason to continue watching.
The last two eps of season 3 just gave the impression that the writters where going "lolz well know characters with backstory are cyclons" and lets make the only working human/cylon relationship meaningless was just stupid (even if it wasnt a good relationship drama wise, it just made it even more worthless and a waste of screen time).

^ I love the end of season 3, but this will retroactively turn to hate if they don't pull out a DAMN good explanation as to who and what the Final Five are. Possibly devote a whole episode to explaining how Tigh of all people can be a Cylon.
Twists like that are amazing if the writers know what they're doing, but if they later prove they don't, you can then smell the shit from the ass-pulling.

This is the guy they want to use to win over "young people?" Are they completely daft? I'd rather vote for a pile of shit than a Jesus freak social regressive.
Here's hoping that his political career goes down in flames and, hopefully, a hilarious gay sex scandal. -Tanasinn

My blog, please check out and comment! http://decepticylon.blogspot.comEh. It just struck me as nonsensical to make Saul Tigh, veteran of the First Cylon War, a humanoid Cylon. Pulled directly from the arse.Admiral Valdemar wrote:

Remember, Tigh didn't meet Adama until well after the war. The only people who would be in a position to verify his actions during the war are his supposed shipmates, who are all dead as far as we can tell, and the Cylons.Vympel wrote:It just struck me as nonsensical to make Saul Tigh, veteran of the First Cylon War, a humanoid Cylon.
None of this matters, however. The only things we really hear are that he fought in at least one ground engagement that went hand-to-hand, and that he's implied to be a top pilot. Both of these receive vague enough descriptions that he could have been doing all this as a Centurion, with his memories edited to remember everything from the perspective of a human combatant.
It's really not as nonsensical as people make it out to be.
^ If they explain it, then I'll be cool with it.
I can't argue that it puts him and Tyrol is very interesting positions. Tory's just evil or something now, and Anders is rapidly developing into my favorite character.

My blog, please check out and comment! http://decepticylon.blogspot.comAny chance that count is wrong? Because it would actually make sense if 12 make it... so that they can become the next generation of people. That's been my little theory for a while now, and pretty much clinched when I saw Razor. The cylons made man, who made the cylons, who made man... etc, etc. That whole "all of this has happened before" idea.Admiral Valdemar wrote:Ah, no. You read that wrong.
Eleven people make it.
I was thinking 12 also, maybe one person from each colony/tribe/whathaveyou, since that's a big important number in the series. And the 12 just become one united thing back on Earth, (which is the real actual original homeworld, and I am going to stick to that theory until it's demolished or not) thus completing, or perhaps closing the cycle of history.Turin wrote:Any chance that count is wrong?
