Considering that Violence has been in soceities for THOUSANDS of years before the invention of electronics I think its safe to say that video games are not its cause.

Okay, my term paper is online now. It's about 13.5 pages, and a 43 Kb Word document.

The title is Video Game Violence and Violent Behavior.

Keep in mind that most of it was constructed in about two days, and I really fucked up with the conclusion, as I pulled an all nighter to finish in time.

Remember, if you plagerise, I'll fucking kill you.

All I get is Page does not exist.

Shit, they found it.

Well, I'll figure out how to post it. Might have to copy it to txt and just paste it to the board.

This thread was pointless from the beginning. In fact, I remember when some of the school shootings happened before I graduated. There was this old ninny teacher that tried to tell me that violent films and games were the cause. Hmm, Unlike almost everyone else I know, I played video games all the fucking time. I watched the hardest movies. Yet, I never rolled into the school and hosed a bunch of fuctards that deserved it down.

I wouldn't call it pointless when there is a sizeable portion of the populace (at least in the US) that actually does hold this opinion that video games = menace to society. I'm sure if you go back through newspapers in the 80's, some asshats were speculating on the link between pac-man and antisocial behavior. Hell, I remember GI Joe being critiqued because it showed violence without bloodshed... the theory being that not showing all the grotesque carnage of war would warp all the kids who watched it into believing that guns and bombs were harmless. Now that "realistic" violence is popular (and I say realistic in the blood and gore sense rather than the military realism sense,) it's the Great Evil of our Modern Age. It's just the tired old ploy of "bash something popular to get your name in the press."

From what I remember reading, incidently, the German release of Unreal Tournament featured robots rather than human characters because realistic violence in games is verboten.

Yeah, they've had to redraw the entire Contra series becaue of that.

But the worst I've heard was when they brought Soul Edge/Blade to the UK. Apparently nunchaku are(or were) banned there, so the character Li Long had to change his weapon to a Shan Gieh Kun.

So because he couldn't have a weapon that was two sticks connected by a chain, he had three sticks connected by two chains.

Can anyone from the UK verify this, or if Maxi had similar problems in Soul Calibur I and II?

You know in all the years I have heard this, I have joked that with my unhealthy love for James Bond Films, Risk, Wargames, and Marvin the Martian. I should be a greater threat to world peace then any terrorist nut job, or 3rd world dictator.

Not only that but the fact that Dr Wertham actually somehow *proved* that juvenile deliquents liked comics...thus were bad.

Sorta sad that people truly follow that sort of information of because people who do illegal activites do/enjoy something, obviously it promotes the activites.

My brother recently installed GTA3 on my dad's computer. I understand now why it sold so many copies, and I can also see why it might raise a few red flags in parents minds.

But just don't let the kids buy it, then, damnit. :P

But damn, that game is fun. Escapism at it's best.

In our Carmageddon, the humans were replaced with zombies, and the blood colour changed to green.

I didn't mind (it's still the same game), but it's kinda pathetic - the graphics were shite anyway, but it was only passed after the cosmetic changes.

Is Medal of Honor changed in any way? There's no blood in the game and I don't remember ever seeing swastikas.

First i would like to say that I resent the attacks on liberals. As you are attacking me in the process.

Second, Although being very socially liberal, I am fully aware that society is a nasty place. I am what you would call a "constitution hugger" I am anti-gun control, and pro-violent video games. There isnt any meaningful evidence that video game scontribut to violence. ALMOST EVERYONE plays violent video games for no other reason than because it is fun to blow stormies into tiny bits.

The same kind of case has been made with porn" watching porn causes people top become sexual predators" EVERYONE WATCHES PORN! Those that say they dont are lying.

The point is the same for both. So stop attacking all liberals!

I think the "Constitution-huggers" are what Americans should be. Not a hardcore member of a party that has 75% percent agreement with the Constitution or 0% agreement with the Constitution, I say at least 90% agreement of the Constitution. People should screw political parties and vote for people that agree with their Constitutional views. They shouldn't have to dedicate themselves to political parties because they only partially coincide with their Constitutional views. I think that is what a lot of people's problems are when it comes to political parties.

Liberal in all respects? Like in international, intranational affairs, economically, socially, etc.?

I only really identify as socially liberal. I am more of a moderate on most other things. Somewhat ACLUish. Though I am against affirmative action.
