Yeah, bullets do veer off course when they hit stuff, including people. Though the scene is still utterly ridiculous. Very few guns can penetrate three people, and lugers are not among those guns. I actually doubt there are any pistols out there that can pass all the way through two people, much less have enough momentum left to get through a third. Clean through one person? Plenty of guns can do that, and there are certainly pistols among those.
