Since this data is hard to come by and I've not seen any reliable books on the subject (besides the ones I've bought for my personal collection immediately on seeing them) I share with you the raw data from "The Gulf Tanker War" by Nadia El-Sayed El-Shazly. The information is taken from Lloyd's of London which opened its collection on ships to her. I made the presentation of the data a bit more intuitive at times from her sometimes clunky graphs.
First up. the number of attacks carried out by Iran or Iraq by month:
Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
1984 0 0 1 1 4 1 2 1 1 2 0 6
1985 2 4 3 0 2 1 0 2 1 2 1 2
1986 2 2 8 2 3 4 0 8 3 4 2 0
1987 7 3 3 2 8 5 4 4 12 10 10 17
1988 8 6 13 5 5 3 4 1 X X X X
There were attacks whose origin is unknown in August of '84, March and May of '85, December of 86, March and October of '87 and January of 88. (One each time.)
'After 9/11, it was "You're with us or your with the terrorists." Now its "You're with Straha or you support racism."' ' - The Romulan Republic
'You're a bully putting on an air of civility while saying that everything western and/or capitalistic must be bad, and a lot of other posters (loomer, Stas Bush, Gandalf) are also going along with it for their own personal reasons (Stas in particular is looking through rose colored glasses)' - Darth Yan

Saudi Arabia 1 0 0

And that's it. I'll be adding the methods used by the two belligerents and a break down of which nations' ships each one of them struck (which is, unfortunately, not broken down by year.)
