Your avatar goes perfectly with that.

Shroom Man 777, you win everything.

And now, for a couple of demotivators that actually stay true to the root of motivational posters:

That's not the frightening part.

I don't usually click on a link expecting to see a real-life Botero character in battledress.

Anything that even looks like math of that complexity, falls into my blind spot.

Why? It's bloody awesome that people can sit down and analyse a fictional setting and derive equations for it.

Are you joking? What sort of pathetic, sad loser would go to a site which just shows equations and derivations from fictional stuff  .

Can we have a new rule requiring the captions to be original? I'm kinda tired of seeing the same fucking poster 30 times.

Can we instead implement a "No Schuyler Colfax" rule? He's provided a few good ones, yeah. But most of his are dumb or even mildly offensive.

I wonder how accurate it is, though. It's supposed to be run on a pretty crappy 8-bit machine with no floating-point support, after all, and even though it wouldn't be executed all that often, things like that 1 / (2^8 - 1)^0.25 in the second formula would most likely actually be represented as a right bit shift by 2 (fourth root of 255 is extremely close to 4). In fact, I wonder how they confirmed that it's not just 2^14 * a^0.25. The difference is ~15.8, or about 0.096%. They'd need a huge data set for something like that.

I'm tempted to go through this thread with a flamethrower and burn down 90% of it. Most of these posters are shit, with no sense of irony or satire at all. So much of it is goddamned computer game, anime, or comic book wankery.

I can see why a number of mine can be considered unfunny (I tend to go for the posters with obvious jokes in them) but, please point out the offensive ones to me. And also fuck you.

I get by on high-school-grade algebra and geometry and a very little bit of trig, for pretty much everything I do professionally.*

If we did anything that complex-looking in a high school math class, I've forgotten it.

Don't use me for a datum point, or anything; I have never been better than a low-average mathematician, if that.

*edit - actually, that's probably junior-high-school algebra and geometry...

That's your prerogative, and I sure as hell wouldn't mind it. I'd just like to see some originality. It's not that hard to find a funny picture and put an original caption on it. Even if it sucks, it's better than the same few posters posted a bunch of times. Even if it's the same picture with a different caption it would be better, I think.
