Government decides to upgrade all remaining F-15C to F-15 ACTIVE standard.
The government decided not to scrap any of the F-15s it has left, but to upgrade the remainder over the next 2 years to F-15 ACTIVE.
Incoming Kingdom of Mangka pilots will be given training on using their F-18E/Fs aboard IBNS Justinian
The Kingdom of Mangka Pilots will be given familisation training in all manner of naval missions aboard the IBNS Justinian and will interact with the various Byzantine pilots (and with plenty of Greek wine to boot) as part of a deal to sell 12 used F/A-18E/F planes.

Fort Condor, Shinra Republic - 2145
Major Edward Price, SRA, was in deep conference with Kapitan (Captain to the SRA) August Brzezinski of the PeZookian 1st Independent Airmobile Company and First Lieutenant Richard Howell of 2nd Platoon, B Company, 2-10 Rangers. Major Price was a decorated veteran of the raid to rescue the hostages from the first Astorian Hostage Crisis. And now here he was, once more alongside PeZookian soldiers planning a daring raid, this time to liberate an airport and - hopefully - supress a coup against a valued ally.
Thus proving that the more things change, the more they stay the same. At least to soldiers like him.
Since Operation Archangel had been a huge success, somebody in planning had jokingly suggested to name this Operation Arkangel. Somehow, it had stuck.
Naming aside, it was time to get serious. They weren't sure of where in the airport the attackers were. Most suspected the military terminal; that was where King Paul was supposed to deplane, after all. Plus, the soldiers and police that had been stationed there hadn't been heard from for several hours. Still, it was not beyond possibility that they had others spread through the rest of the facility as well.
One plan had been to buzz the airport with an A-6 from the carrier Zeus but it had been rejected. If their intent was to ambush and kill the PeZookian monarch, they likely weren't going to spoil everything by shooting at an overflying military plane. The other option was much simpler: a UAV with IR scanning. This should at least tell them in what buildings to expect resistence. And thanks to Major Kulinsky, they had the plans they'd need.
The plan, when it was finally finished, was roughly as follows:
H-minus 0130: Units under command of Major Kulinsky form perimeter to prevent escape of insurgent forces
H-minus 0030: UAV from carrier Zeus recons area
H-minus 0001: MH-60 DAP aircraft overfly airport, dropping flares; attempting to surprise insurgents and blind their nightvision
H-hour 0000: Airborne company and Rangers land on field in NW of airport; advance on occupied terminals
They would advance quickly and utilizing the element of surprise as much as possible. It was hoped that these mercenaries would not have the stomach to stand and fight against regular soldiers, and they would desert en-masse. To that end, Major Kulinsky would form a perimeter. His orders would be to attempt to take prisoners, but if he received fire he would respond appropriately; dead prisoners were worth less intelligence than live ones, after all. The assulting troops would not pursue. They weren't about to risk getting in the line of fire against the Major's troops.
With the planning as good as it was going to get, they boarded the twelve transports that would take them to their destination and took off, followed by the eight DAP gunships and three KC-130 tankers. Major Price watched them go and wished them the best; he hated being left behind, but that was the reality of his new role as Battalion S-3 (Operations Officer). He would plan, but he wouldn't fight.
Sometimes, he regretted taking that promotion.

The Canissian zeppelin carrying the King back home was on approach, and paying attention to MESS command channel update son the PeZookian situation.
"Damn," Arik thought, "What is it, open season on world leaders?" There was a part of his mind that seriously wondered if this was some trick by Blackadder to 're-assign' political realities worldwide to more easily suit his own agendas and desires.
After all, King Paul was among the first to voice his disapproval of the way the Shep situation was handled... has Blackadder had some sort of option in place for all of us? He thought carefully about the situation-- and he got a sinking feeling deep in his gut.
Let's face it, Shep declared war but didn't fire a shot, apart from the strike on TF23 that kicked the whole thing off-- the first belligerent shots of the war was fired from Canissian Royal Navy vessels in the Central Seas Fleet...
President Sheppard started the war with the TF23 attack, but King Arik Coyotus-I was the first to fire back. Then there was the dust-up in north West Neverhood, which was largely believed to have been caused by someone's accidental discharge... And while Adrian had assaulted MESS members engaged in tsunami relief, again it was the Royal Navy that closed the battle.
"What's the matter?" Samira asked as they got ready to land. "Aren't you happy to be getting home finally?"
"I am," Arik said, "But I'm troubled. If Blackie's decided to eliminate dangerous people from his new world order, I might well be near the top end of the list."
"I don't think so," Samira said, "You're not afraid of force, true, but you've been a tireless advocate of diplomacy and negotiations, and sought peace first. He'll recognise that you're not a dangerous sociopath, like Shep."
"I dunno," Arik said, "I don't know if 'diplomacy' and 'negotiations' are what he values. Look what happened when Shep and Saddam both came to his peaceful haven for some 'diplomacy'."
"True, to a point. But his goals were peace and stability... you can't deny that he brought about the end of a tyrant warmonger, albeit through very controversial means."
"You are right in that," Arik said, "I just have to hope none of the rest of us are on his radar in that way."
"Let's face it, the way things are going, I'd put Saddam and possibly the IRT closer to the top of the list," Samira said. "C'mon, let's get on the ground. I can't wait to see Nafrini after these tense weeks..."

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!

CANISSIAN NEWS/BBC: AQUARIA PROVINCE GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES "BUSINESS-FRIENDLY" TAX REGIME FOR OVERSEAS INVESTORS
The Windward Islands, which collectively make up the Canissian province of Aquaria, have announced a "business friendly" tax program, specifically to entice overseas investors.
"We'd like overseas businesses to consider locating corporate headquarters to Aquaria," said Governor Maxwell Widley in Diamond Bay yesterday. "Sometimes taxes back home can be onerous, and we here in the Aquaria Province pride ourselves on being friendly to hard working companies seeking to improve their bottom line."
The proposal is complex, but amounts to a tax shelter for corporations willing to locate their corporate headquarters to the sunny, laid-back Canissian island province.
Any company that relocated would primarily pay the property tax for the province, but because the bulk of their profits would be earned "overseas", they would not have to pay the higher business taxes for income generated to the Canissian government. It would also be a way to sidestep their own, home-country taxes as well as provide banking that would be outside their home-country loop.
"The people of Aquaria benefit because those corporate offices will hire large portions of their staff from among the locals-- secretaries, security guards, and so on. Only the corporate leadership would necessarily be from thier home country. It's win-win."
OFEK INDUSTRIES PUTS IN BID FOR THE THEL DEFENSE LASER PROGRAM
The THEL laser defense program, alread a priority of the Administration in the wake of follow-up from lessons learned in the UAR/Novaterra war, has had its first bid today when Gabi Nuva, the CEO of Ofek Industries, placed a bid to work on the contract.
The contract for the THEL is also a favorite of the Tauron Province, the closest province to Nukistani territory.
"On a clear day, with ordinary binoculars, you can see Nukistan," said Tauron's Governor, Rachel Chen. "We need THEL, and we need it here first. It makes sense that the initial work be done in Tauron Province."
Others are wary that Tauron is already overly-dependent on the 'Military Industrial Complex' for th ebulk of its funding.
"Look, we have two sources of income," said Province Labor Party leader Joef Katz, "Mining and government contracts. Our people are poor and nearly everything we need, from the food we eat to the appliances we have in our homes, must be trucked in. We need to capitalize on other industries besides war and hard labor. Our mountains are a haven for tourists, but no one is putting th emoney in to develop trails, resorts, or skiing at the highest altitudes."
Ironically, it is the city of Delphi that does, in fact, generate the most benefit from tourism into the mountains. Delphi, a Virgon Province city, is ideally suited at the convergence of Picon, Tauron, and Gemenon provinces. Hiking, camping, skiing and other tourist services are, indeed, found in these provinces, but it is Delphi that benefits from them more than the provinces that actually contain these amenities.
Delphi is the site of the Olympic City, which will capitalize on Delphi's location for the Olympics. Opening ceremonies will begin in a few weeks.

His Highness Begins Worldwide Visit
[Migidishu] His Highness Sultan Ibrahim and the newly appointed cabinet has left for the Shinra Republic last night. The main purpose of this visit is to thank the President Rufus in person for his help on ending the recent civil war, and recognizing the Sultanate as a nation. His Highness is also willing to have a better understanding of the Northeastern world, and visit the overseas Muslim population. Besides Shinra, some MESS and FUN nations might also be visited during this trip. It is unknown what other nations will be visited due to lack of acknowledgement and potential hostility. Also all means of transportation and routes are kept secret.

"Ahuh..." Prime Minister Baylor nodded at the dude in the telescreen. A FIA man, Racker... Ricker... Risto was his name-o. "And what does your Director make of all this?"
"Um, he's indisposed right now, sir. So I can't..."
"Right," he muttered as he switched the screen off and patched himself to the PeZookian and Shinra conversatoon. "Okay, gentlemen. Shroomania might not have an Airborne division, but we want to help do whatever we can. We've got the SAF and..."
No. They wouldn't want the SAF to bomb Astoria International to rubble.
"...okay. Oh, and remind them that the King rode with me on the Shroom Force One from PeZookia to Atlantis. Maybe they'll be expecting him to be on the same plane when he gets back home "
EDIT:
"Oh, and tell the journos that Sultan Ibrahim is free to visit Shroomania. I think we need a new POV on things, after this whole mess..."

Fenette Air Force Base
Unreal Time
Lelouch's MC-130 touched down in the middle of yet another mobilization at Fenette AFB. Apparently, there was an attempted coup in progress in PeZookia, and the Joint Chiefs saw it fit to mobilize Langley's special forces in the absence of orders from their chief executive; MH-53 Pave Lows and MH-60 Pave Hawks were being marshaled out of their hangars, and even the An-22P dubbed "Euphinator" and the trusty EC-130 Commando Solo dubbed "Lucky Channel" were being brought out for potential use against the PeZookian traitors. As soon as Lelouch, Kallen, and the others got off the plane, they were immediately greeted by Marshal Todo.
"Marshal Todo, what's the meaning of all this?" Lelouch asked.
"There isn't much time to explain!" the marshal replied. "We don't have enough time to get back to Ashford, so we'll have to debrief here!"
A few minutes later, the Joint Chiefs and the Royal Family were all clustered in a rather expansive and luxuriously furnished briefing room. Marshal Todo started the briefing as soon as he saw the last of his colleagues and superiors entering the room, not waiting for any of them to finish settling in.
"Okay, you're all here, right?" he asked. "Let's start, then."
"As you now know, while the Royal Family was off in Atlantis attending the conference, saboteurs gained access into PeZookia as part of an attempt to overthrow King Paul. We haven't been able to obtain much information from PeZookia due to the comms blackout, and details being passed around through other channels are a bit sketchy. Still, as a fellow FUN nation, we should try to help out the PeZookians in any way we can. That's why...we'll be sending in the SOS Brigade."
Lelouch visibly paled at Kyoshiro's proclamation. The Strategic Operational Services Brigade was the best Langley's military had to offer, mobilized only in times of great need or distress. "You're gonna be sending them?" Lelouch asked. "When will they be ready?"
"The personnel have already been mobilized, and we've already commandeered your Combat Talon for their use. Their Pave Lows and Pave Hawks will be ready within the hour. Just in case, we'll be sending in the Commando Solo and the An-22P to assist. They can make it to PeZookia in about three hours, four at the most. All they need is your permission."
"Very well, then. They have a go. We'll have to put in a call to Shroom and Shady and see if we can borrow their bases for our use against the PeZookian traitors. Also, you think we can have some Marines storming ashore on Orlyonoks?"
"Consider it done, Your Highness."

"Consider it done, Your Highness."

Special Message to Saddam the Great, Supreme Ruler of the Great Arab Socialist Ba'athist Republic of Saddamistan
From: King Arik Coyotus-I, of the People's Republic of Canissia
To Saddam the Great, I bid you greetings.
I hope this missive finds you in good health; I write to you in the interests of greater peace and reconciliation.
At this time I am sure the very notion seems laughable to you, and with good reason. The recent events at Atlantis have left a deep and indelible scar on the minds of the world leaders in attendance there, and I am among that number.
I came to the conference with the interests to negotiate in good faith; the the execution of your ally, President Sheppard, and the ultimatums leveled aginst you and your people were an unexpected and unwelcome surprise. I give you my personal assurances that I had no foreknowledge of these events or plans by King Blackadder, whose actions I view with great alarm and distress.
Your intelligence agencies will note that, despite this insane breakdown in communications and diplomacy, my forces have not only withdrawn from around Saddamistan, but have in fact maintained compliance with your own earlier request to withdraw to the maximum range limit originally requested during the Terra Libertia crisis.
Before King Blackadder's actions, you expressed a willingness to discuss the Neverhood and Terra Libertia as issues; since my government spearheads operations in the Neverhood I would like to hope that someday we may indeed meet and discuss these matters. For the meantime, however, I shall endeavor to simply maintain peace and stability, and recognise the de facto borders as they are.
In the meantime, however, the Olympics-- a year late and much delayed by crses, will begin soon. I have not received word from anyone in your government regarding Saddamistan's participation. I would like to extend my personal invitation to you, to send a team to this event, and you yourself are invited to attend and stay at the Seaside Palace if you see fit. We may, if you see fit, discuss business, or forego concerns and enjoy international competition of a more enjoyable type.
With Regards,
King Arik Coyotus-I
People's Republic of Canissia
=======================================
Arik looked back and re-read the letter.
"Are you sure, sir?" Colonel Rassnar said.
"It's an invitation," Arik said, "Nothing more, he can turn it down. But I want to make a fair and honest offer, and at least say I tried. Hopefully, we can pick up some of where we were headed before... well, before."

Operation Arkangel: T-minus 0031
An RQ-2B from the SRS Zeus CVBG overflew Astoria International Airport. What it saw was that most of the presence was within the military terminal. Apparently when King Paul's airplane did not arrive as expected, they had formed up a quick defensive perimeter outside the terminal building itself. It was unknown how many still remained inside.
The UAV would continue in a high orbit, giving real-time video of the operation to commanders back in the Shinra Republic and at the Paradiso military airfield.
Elsewhere, aboard a Shinra Republic Army SOAR MH-60
Corporal Michael Gordon wasn't sure whether he was happy or not to be heading back into combat. One of the veterans of the original Operation Archangel, he suspected his unit was picked over the rest due to their combat experience. This would be a tricky enough operation as it was; the brass had apparently decided it would be better to pull it off with people who'd heard shots fired in anger than those who hadn't.
He looked out over the landscape as they made "feet dry" and was unsettled at just how...dark it was. The massive evacuation of PeZookia's population centers had been damn near total. There wasn't a light as far as he could see, and this for some reason unsettled him. Perhaps it was the reminder of how close they had all come to nuclear annilhation. Whatever it was, it time to clamp down on any misgivings and worry he might have and get his head into the mission. It was almost time...

"What's the matter?", asked one of the mercenaries. They were holed up in the military terminal for hours now, and the day had come and gone.
"I don't know...there's people moving by these houses", the mercenary commander said, lowering his binoculars, "They may have started to move back...weird. We didn't hear anything on the radio."
The leader of the mercenary team wondered if he had made a mistake. He assumed the airliner was simply delayed, and in addition to taking some additional security measures, he decided to wait. But it was night now, and something unnerved him.
"Hey, Skipper. Ya hear that? Some kinda strange bird or what?", one of his subordinates asked suddendly. The leader's head jumped up.
Birds?, he thought, These aren't goddamned birds!

Tonkin Remarks on the Shepnukistan Civil War
HUE - The IRT does not recognize the government of Vice President Garner and considers his government an illegitimate puppet government controlled by the United Kingdom of Blackadder. The IRT denounces this attempt to subvert international rule of law and interfere with sovereign nation states and government authority.
The IRT further announces that it recognizes the authority of Shepnukistan's Speaker of the House as the lawful government and also recognizes the immediate authority of General Ye Diwen in East Neverhood. We further announce that we will open our borders to any and all refugees from the civil war, including evacuating military forces who now believe it is too dangerous to remain in Shepnukistan.

Shroom Force One
Now returning to Shroomania
"Tell the Langleys and the Baernes to maintain a state of high alertedness, but tell them not to do anything rash or premature without confirmation," Prime Minister Shroom said. "Tell them that I've received word that the PeZookians are working with the Shinras to counter this coup attempt and that the lack of communications from PeZookia proper is a means to ensure operational security."
"Allow the Langleys to borrow our bases. I don't really see the need to, but goddamn their Antonov is awesome," the Prime Minister concluded. "This would've been the job of the FART, but we haven't really gone around to establishing it. So, eh. Just in case."
Alison nodded and walked away to communicate the orders to the rest of the FUN.
When she returned, she was bringing a tray with a couple of bowls of noodles and curry - the delicious aroma of which delightfully surprised the PM.

MACC: MESS Allied Command Center
Admiral Micha Dayan read through the orders from the Defense Minister, and agreed with them. The Canissian forces in the area, and MESS forces in general, would do nothing to interfere with the Nukistani civil war. They were to remain calm, provide security, and maintain close watch on the borders as best they could... while, hopefully, preventing th emilitias from getting squirrely, and doing something crazy.

Message to General Ye Diwen
Nukistani Command, East Neverhood
General Ye Diwen, greetings.
Be it known to you and the personnel under your command that the forces of the MESS, and the West Neverhood Civil Authority, will take no action to choose sides in the Nukistani internal disorder, which we consider to be a Nukistani domestic issue. We will not seek to take advantage of the sitiuation and will endeavor to restrain civilian irregulars as well.
However, it shold be known that any personnel crossing the border as irregulars or as refugees, they will be detained by MESS forces; and any Nukistani forces that attempt to cross the border by force will be considered an act of war.
Cordially,

Also, we've received word that PeZookia is already working with the Shinra Republic to counter the coup attempt and that the comms blackout in PeZookia proper is there simply to ensure the security of their ops," Marshal Todo informed Lelouch.
"Our people are already en route, right?" Lelouch asked.
"They're just about to depart right now, sir," Marshal Todo replied.
"Order them to go straight to the base at Comona Island and wait for additional intel to come in before proceeding. We don't want them to blunder in and cause an even bigger mess."
"Understood, Your Highness."

In Neverhood
The Nukistani civil war was making things tense, far tenser than even when artillery duels were occurring at the border. Nukistani troops haphazardly inspected convoys and bases, and you couldn't be sure what the local commander expected from ProTec. ProTec continued to work on its contract with the PAP regardless. The Nukistani advisers had left the force, concerned more about events in their own house.
The NVA and others continued their attacks, and inspections of jails run by the PAP were finding horrible conditions in some cases. Evidence of torture, men held without charge, it was all there. Through threats, bluff and bluster ProTec tried to get the jails into some sort of order. Messages were sent continuously to local commanders and the Shepnukistani capital asking for official help and comment on the jail issue. Most of the responses were nonsensical and ignored
With the Civil War in full swing, it looked like ProTec was now de facto responsible for the PAP and the defense of East Neverhood from guerilla attacks. The Shepnukistani army was only offering haphazard leadership and assistance. ProTec was still being paid, so they stayed on. The local ProTec commanders thought they could still make the contract work, and the people at corporate deffered to them.

Astoria International Airport, Military Terminal
Before "the Skipper" had a chance to warn anyone, four MH-60 gunships suddenly flew overhead, launching between them some 100 flares. Their night vision utterly ruined and still in shock at the sudden overflight, the men on the outside perimeter defenses never saw the other gunships swooping in, launching rocket after rocket into their position.
By the time it was all over, anyone who had been in the terminal looking outside would have been blinded by the flares and flames, and just about all of them were shaken by the explosions. Outside, not a single mercenary remained combat-effective, though amazingly a few managed to survive.
In the chaos and confusion that had broken out, none of them noticed the twelve MH-60s that had landed on the northwest field and disgorged some 150 PeZookian and Shinra troopers.
Astoria International Airport, Northwest Field - T-minus 0001
Corporal Gordon hit the ground running. They had recieved last-minute intel that it appeared the mercs had indeed all holed up in the military terminal. Nonetheless, the PeZookian 2nd and 3rd platoons would clear the civilian buildings. His job was to get to a point at the end of the military hanger where they could lay heavy fire on the military terminal buildings. The plan was to draw their attention towards the hanger, so the 2nd and 3rd platoons could come around and smash them from behind. With any luck, Kulinsky's men would hear a lot of noise and see a lot of flashes tonight, but little else.
It was a helluva run from the NW field over to the hanger at the SE part of the airport, but he was a Ranger. This was nothing to him.
Astoria International Airport, Cargo Terminal
Podporucznik (2nd Lieutenant) Emil "Solo" Solowiec thought things were going a little too easy for his troops in 3rd Platoon. They had entered the cargo terminal and quickly started clearing the buildings, only to find the place completely deserted. From what he could tell from the radio chatter, ppor. Kamil "Duro" Durczok and 2nd platoon was having much of the same in the civilian areas. A few more minutes, that's what they'd need. Then they'd leave their rear guard and link up, and await the signal to hit the military terminal from behind.
Astoria International Airport, Military Hanger (SE corner)
Porucznik Justyna "Kazi" Sztuka led 1st Platoon up the east side of the hanger, moving quietly. So far she could tell the flames and carnage over at the terminal itself had kept the mercs completely unaware of the advance of her and the rest of the company. Starszy sierżant Roman Biedron, the company's first sergeant, was right beside her. Kapitan Brzezinski was over on the west side of the hanger with Weapons Platoon and the Shinra Rangers. She signaled that she was in position and waited; the mortars would be the signal for her and her troopers to unleash all manner of Hell on the still unsuspecting mercs.
Astoria International Airport, Military Terminal
The first warning any of them had was the whistling sound of an incoming mortar attack. Just as the first shells started exploding just outside the terminal building (unbeknownst to them this was a deliberate shortfall - the PeZookians didn't want to shell their own building after all) a barrage of machine gun fire began raking the sides and through already shattered windows. Of a force of 55 mercenaries, 20 had been caught outside in the helicopter attack, and now another 5 fell to the initial fire, including "the Skipper" himself. Of those that remained, none of them decided they were being paid anywhere near enough to stick around for this. They started to fall back, only to run right into 2nd and 3rd platoon.
Astoria International Airport, Military Terminal (N parking lot)
2nd and 3rd platoon had barely had time to set themselves up before the retreating mercs came charging out. But retreating or not, the mercs knew their business. They immediately ducked back inside the building and started to open fire.
Boleslaw "Komar" Marczuk was the first PeZookian to die, victim of a quick - and lucky - snapshot from one of the mercs. Caught off guard, the two platoons quickly hit the dirt and started returning fire. They had been caught in the open parking lot, before they'd had the chance to set themselves up behind the northernmost buildings for cover. They had severely overestimated the resolve of these mercs, and now they were paying the price.
Breaking contact, they fired on the move as they fell back to whatever cover they could find. But the mercs had a few nasty surprises in store: the RPGs had not been on the perimeter, but stored inside. And now they were brought to the fore.
Starszy szeregowy (Private 1st Class) Blazej Duk was caught by the blast of one of the RPGs, his leg nearly severed by shrapnel. Starszy kapral (Corporal) Kamila Swieta, his petite and pretty squad leader (some couldn't believe she was actually an elite airborne trooper on first sight) proved once more why she was not only there, but an NCO when she single-handedly managed to pick up and drag the wounded st. szer. Duk to cover. Somehow, she herself managed to avoid getting hit. A few feet away, ppor. Solowiec took a hit, and his platoon sergeant Feliks "Swiatlo" Swiatecki grabbed his wounded leader before he hit the ground. But before either of them could move, an RPG detonated just to their left, killing both of them instantly.
ppor. Durczok took a quick assessment of the situation when he reached the relative safety of the buildings: three soldiers were dead, including his friend and fellow officer Solowiec. Six more were wounded, and even as he took his stock another RPG impacted on the side of a building, throwing deadly shrapnel into the face of one of his troopers, permanently blinding him. He knew they had wanted live prisoners, but this was enough. He called in the MH-60 DAP gunships to fire on the terminal entrance.
A quick rocket strike later and it was all over.
Astoria International Airport, One Hour Later
The fires had been put out, and Major Kulinsky's soldiers had formed a perimeter while the PeZookian airborne troopers and Shinra Rangers reformed on the main tarmac. Three PeZookian soldiers were dead and seven wounded, two of them severely. Not a single mercenary survived.
It had been a brief but brutal trial by fire for PeZookia's 1st Independent Airmobile Company.
Major Kuslinksy had been the one to debrief Kapitan Brzezinski, his surviving platoon leaders, and Lieutenant Howell of the Shinra Republic's Ranger platoon. The 1st platoon, weapons platoon, and Ranger platoon had all survived relatively intact; very little fire had been given their way due to the mercenary's almost immediate attempt to withdraw. It was 2nd and 3rd platoon who paid the price when the mercs realized they had been trapped.
Despite their training, it was obvious that, somehow, there had been a communications failure. Kapitan Brzezinski swore that he had heard the "in-place" signal from Durczok; yet obviously Durczok and Soloweic's platoons had not been in place at all. A brief investigation had revealed that 2nd platoon's commo trooper had mistakenly depressed his transmit button three times, giving the "in-place" signal when he had meant to give the two-click "formed up, moving out" signal.
Major Kulinsky knew that it was a common, almost insignificant mistake, but one that in the wrong place at the wrong time could spell disaster. Had it not been for the suburb training of the Airmobile Company, it almost certainly would have been worse. He had declined to initiate charges against the commo trooper; he knew that simply living with the mistake would be far worse punishment for the young trooper than anything a court-martial could bring.
Kulinsky looked over at the flightline, noting that only about half of the now landed helicopters were painted in the scheme of the PeZookian military, with the rest Shinra Republic Army aircraft. They had been purchasing the aircraft from the Shinra Republic, but the acquisition process had been interrupted with the turmoil of the past year. Likewise he knew, the Airmobile Company had not truly had the full training regimen they needed. Despite not being fully ready for action though, the immediate need for them had necessitated bringing them into action before they were fully ready. Had it not been for the Syndromian Conflict veterans, things might have taken a turn for the worse.
Indeed, he reflected, despite the missteps, it had been a clever, simple, and effective plan, which on the whole was well executed. He knew that had he been the one tasked to take the airport, casualties would have been higher. The Airmobile Company had had the equipment and training to pull it off, and even without them being fully prepared and deployed on such short notice, they had succeeded admirably.
The PeZookian 1st Independent Airmobile Company had proven itself in battle. And Major Kulinsky desperately hoped it would be a long, long time before the officers and troopers of the Company had to put the lessons learned tonight to the test of battle once again.
"Sir," Colonel Rassnar said, "Were we planning to send assistance to deal with the PeZookina crisis?"
King Arik Coyotus-I looked up from where the kids were playing and walked away from the play area with his aide-de-camp.
"No," he said, "Rufus and Paul have the situation well at hand, and others from FUN are doing their part-- I fear that involving ourselves will only make an already tense situation more so."
"Very well, sir," the Colonel said. "You've had a chance to review the reports from the post-conflict lessons, sir?"
"I have, indeed," the King said, "I think I have to agree with the assessment of the Navy, too-- the Anuket program can survive in modified form to be a littoral combat ship of sorts." Fortunately, no one on Nova Terra was familiar with the ship that went by that designation back on Earth...

Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

"And this is it. All in all, I think you all performed admirably. I will be recommending some of you for decoration, especially plutonowa Swieta.
"Thank you, major!", the petite paratrooper saluted smartly.
"Right now, however, we have a country to restart. I need two platoon at the Royal Palace, securing the commo equipment. We need to get in touch with the King, reassemble the military and get people out of their shelters."
The troops were listening intently. It seemed like the real mission was just beginning now.
"I want to have a grip on the overall situation by four o'clock. Once the King returns, we will have the authority to send the all-clear, and then the 1st and the Rangers will provide initial security in the city, untill we get the Army back together."
He took some time to answer questions, mostly from Shinra rangers concerning the layout of the city. A few minutes later, people were racing to their trucks and helicopters.

The Emperor returned to Constantinople after spending over a week in the command bunker. Life was returning to the old city and the week long holiday had finally started. The truth was, he was irritated. Shepnukistan is in the midst of a civil war, and God knows if it will spill over and Saddamistan remained... an enigma. Maybe it was time to do some dangerous diplomacy. "Send a note to Saddamistan. We would like to discuss matters regarding UKB and other matters of interest."

King Zor-I went through his reports while sipping a mug of Green Tea feeling relaxed. The Kingdom was no longer at high alert and things were all and all going well despite the economic setbacks from the mobilization, several industries managed to rake in a profit and things were going back to normal. The fact that Several Crown and privately owned Zorian firms had just landed several deals in Adrianopolis in reconstruction, including redevelopment of their oil fields.
As he went through the files, he found one that made him smile. The Work of several Dozen Zorian Engineers that were working in Shepnukistan before returning to the Sovereign Kingdom and the Ministry of Intelligence's Spy Work managed to gather enough information to restore something that every Zorian thought was unjustly taken from the Kingdom and lead to the creation of the Informal Annual Event of "Throw stuff at Saddam's Ugly Mug Day" in Zoria's various taverns, pubs and bar. That Island Shroomy leased out would be of alot of use hear.
