Marxism, Russkie-hats, and monkeys.

Post by SirNitram »

Wierd title, huh?

But here's some of the Right Wing attacks that Obama predicted.
GALLAGHER: Yeah, that’s, we hear that everyday. Congressman, every day someone will say to me, and I’ve said it, it’s as if this were a guy who’s desperately trying to cover up what seems to be the kind of old school Marxist, radical liberal failed ideology.

DELAY: Absolutely.

GALLAGHER: That’s what he is.

DELAY: No doubt about it.
We can top that. Delay? Delay sucks! Let's try idiot Right Wing apologist shock jocks and 'writers' who exist solely because of the Right Wing entitlement machine.
BECK: Right. I want to — I want to show you some things that I found on the Internet. And I don`t know if you`ve noticed this. But if you look at the art work and even we have a picture here of one of the people that worked in his office. I think it was in Houston. Look at the art work here.

This is Soviet art. This is revolutionary art. And here`s one of his campaign workers with a Che flag. Socialism is cool right now. Right or wrong?

GOLDBERG: Oh, well, unfortunately, I don`t think it`s ever been uncool for people on the left. It`s a very strange thing. You know, Hugo Chavez is very popular. Che Guevara is very popular. Castro is still very popular.

And a lot of these posters that we see for Barack really come from the sort of liberation theology, left-wing sort of…

BECK: I know.

GOLDBERG: … where he`s a messiah-like figure. […]

Jonah Goldberg, editor of “National Review” online, author of “Liberal Fascism,” joins me again.

Jonah, we were talking earlier that socialism is cool. A listener actually sent me this hat. It`s cold in here. Anyway, that socialism is cool now. These celebrities flock to people like Chavez. Why? Are they just stupid? Are they — do they know what they`re doing? Do they know who they`re embracing?[…]

GOLDBERG: And it`s — it`s — fine. Free speech. But that doesn`t mean these people are courageous for doing it. Like you are for that hat.

BECK: I`m going to have to tell you, I can`t think of anybody, Jonah, that, you know, you`d be afraid to speak out about. You know, here in America.

GOLDBERG: Well, if you can wear that hat, you can do anything.
The guy was wearing a furry hat, the type used to stereotype Russkis, with an Obama '08 tag. Don't believe it? Clip.

Let's round it off with something that just appeared.

Sickeningly black-and-white: if someone is not perfectly free-marketist, he must be a closet Marxist.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

He's the editor of National Review. The biggest difference between National Review and Mussolini is that National Review would not be able to get the trains running on time.

Yea. His basic thesis is convoluted, to say the least. He ties Liberalism to Fascism by indicating that Liberalism is similar to socialism, and socialism is fascism (he uses the National Socialism moniker to try to prove this).

He then indicates that many progressives of the 1930s and Liberals were pro Communist and pro-Mussolini (at least the beginning, he says), and since communism = socialism , and socialism = fascism, they were Liberals too.

He also sees liberal programmes as totalitarian if they restrict anything he personally thinks shouldn't be restricted, but doesn't apply the same logic to things he hasn't the same standard for (e.g. gay marriage).

He even links vegetarianism to it. To say it's a stretch is an understatement.

Is that the idiot Jon Stewart got into a heated argument with on the show? It was sometime during the writer's strike, he interviewed a guy espousing a similar viewpoint, and the discussion get very animated (so much so, in fact, that most of it was edited out of the broadcast).

I wonder if sufficient usage in popular media could get the phrase "commie-Nazi" a degree of legitimacy?

Found this in the comments,
barfly wrote:Well, let them have their little joke, because next year, they’ll be attacking a sitting president in a time of war.

They’ll look damned foolish, attacking President Obama, after supporting Chimpie, and the crow will be served piping hot and fresh!
That's a pretty awesome insight.
