Holocene Vs. Anthropocene

Post by Vehrec »

So I want the opinion of SD.net on an issue of global Climate. Are we still living in the Interglacial Holocene or are we living in the post-orbital forcing Anthropocene? Have we taken the reigns of climate in our hands inadvertently but sufficiently to become the primary drivers of climate on this planet? Is William Rudderman right and should we be spiraling into an Ice age without the carbon dioxide and methane released by farming and other activities? So are we in control and when the heck did we take over without noticing it if we are?

Maybe if the warming period lasts more than 1000 years, otherwise, I'd be skeptical of calling in a new Geologic age at this juncture.

IIRC all signs point to us living in a typical Pliestocene interglacial at this point. Even with global warming it's not unusual: the last interglacial was much warmer than our present climate IIRC.
