BBC: Daylight Robbery (on the Iraq War)

Post by weemadando »

Panorama the video has just been pulled from youtube sadly, but the BBC link should be going up shortly.

It's a brilliant doco that breaks down just how corrupt the whole process was, and continues to be.

To say that even with all my previous reading on the subject, I came out of this even more jaded and nauseated.

Yeah, I saw that recently. The sheer level of incestuous deal-making and flagrant, almost ecstatic in its own scale waste involved in one of the least needed wars in living memory was sickening when they put it all together like that. Superb journalism, though.

The thing that I hadn't heard of before was the fact that the oversight for the administration of the funds for the war was given to a fucking mom and pop firm running out a house in the suburbs that weren't even CPAs. Nor did they apparently have any accounting experience.

That smacks to me of intentional fraud, not just "an oversight" or "mistake".
