Operation Triphammer
Abstract:
A plan for the liberation of the Makayan provinces by brute military force.
(Copy G: For Distribution to Associated forces)
Objectives:
The goal of Operation Triphammer is to force the Cannibal nation to the peace table, with the intention of reducing their hold on the Makayan province and liberating most of the human population of Makay. Estimates of Cannibal numbers suggest that a war to completely liberate Makay would require the complete genocide of the Cannibal species; as of this moment, the High Syndicates do not believe such a measure is acceptable.
Strategic:
The surrender of the Cannibal nation will be achieved by the crippling of the Cannibal navy, thereby making it impossible for their nation to exert control over the Makayan provinces. This destruction is to be achieved by tricking the Cannibals into massing an inferior force where it can be decisively defeated by superior numbers.
Primary Phase:
The Black Banner Fleet will strike at Teldus in full force, defeat any defending forces, and initiate a limited invasion of the planet of Teldus. Extensive preperatory bombardment will allow a weak force, consisting largely of light mountain troops, to be landed while taking enough territory to convince the Enemy that Teldus is the primary target. Concurrently, raiding forces will interdict Cannibal transport, to weaken enemy commerce and military co-ordination, as well as to force the Enemy to re-assign battlefleet escorts to convoy duty, thus weakening the enemy's capacity in battle against the Black Banner Fleet.
Secondary Phase:
The Flying Column will strike a secondary world ((POTENTIAL TARGETS FOLLOW)) in an attempt to divide the enemy main battle fleet. Major orbital bombardment will allow the landing of Marine and light mountain forces, to increase the sense of threat to the Cannibal commanders. Raiding forces will track the motion of the enemy response. The Black Banner Fleet will move on from Teldus, striking at the enemy capital of Godwin's Hope while the enemy fleet is divided. The Cannibal home fleet at Godwin's Hope will be forced to hold position or open up Godwin's Hope to a similar attack as struck Teldus; such an attack on their capital would do massive damage to their military and warmaking capacity. We do not believe they would allow this; the bulk of the enemy battleships will be destroyed over Godwin's Hope.
Tertiary Phase:
The Flying Column will flee any counter-attack, leaving troops on-planet as guerillas. The Column and the Black Banner Fleet will co-ordinate to surround and destroy the Cannibal response fleet, probably over the secondary target world or Teldus as the Cannibal response fleet attempts to break our troops on either world. Cruiser units will join the raiding fleets, overwhelming enemy convoy escorts and completely interdicting the Cannibal commerce.
At this point, offers can be made to the shattered cannibal nation for a beneficial peace...
