Gerry Anderson's UFO. I've just started watching it and am toying with the idea of starting a thread about it - the show is this really schizophrenic mix of serious, well-made SF and batshit insanity.

Bounty, the "Appropriate Attire"-caption is excellent !

I love that series !

You fail. Club97 is in Hong Kong, where $50 is $6.40 US. Nothing costs just as much as it always has.

Okay, Thanas. You're going to have to explain the Doctor Who one. I know who she is and I recognize Harry Potter but what's the significance of the caption?

Imagine Season 2 of Dr. Who with Radcliffe instead of Tennant....the horror of Potter being the doctor.

Basically it is a play on Radcliffe wearing a suit and standing next to Billie Piper....therefore looking quite like the Doctor and Rose. The principle is that one takes similar looking situations and compares them to the original, captioning that with the creator's opinion of the comparison.

Like the following ones I found on the internet (all who-related):

Heh.
I once gave my room-mates a similiar lesson in Hebrew :D.
"Say cheese to the camera" becomes (In Hebrew) "Hot Bitches".
After they realized by my rolling on the ground laughing that I might have given them bad advice on what to shout to some 20 girls, they tried to salvage their honor (And I, my strangled throat) by asking how to say
"Fuck off".
Unfortunately, they mispronounced it, and said "Give me a fuck".

Ah, Mari-tan, the cute little girl who spouts lines from Full Metal Jacket so as to teach Japanese people how to swear like US Marines. What's even funnier is that it the book in question has an accompanying speak and say soundtrack with full voice acting done with a cute female voice. It is so totally incongrous its hilarious.

More information here.

Further proof that the Japanese are insane.
