1) Get a newsserver. The best free one is "news.cis.dfn.de" now to get access you do have to sign up with them but that's a 2 second process.

2) Find someone who knows how to work Xnews because I, like the pariah I am, use OE and can't help you further.

I actually have no clue whatsoever who you're talking about.

EDIT: Checked Google. Turns out we DID chat about LOTR. I just don't remember it...

oh, well, must be my faulty perceptios

I saw her posts, She's from England, I forgot what Off Topic x-post brought her to ASVS from some Tolkien Board, But Wilson was after her immedatly, I haven't seen her post since July (But since she's a female in ASVS that still counts her as a regular...)

Until I can get Microsoft Office to work, I won't be able to access ASVS unless its a Mon, Wed, or Fri, cos I am not willing to sit there and join a Google group.

Well, you can crack it, but I feel bad about doing that, esp. to small companies.

You don't need Office to access usenet. OE should work fine (Outlook will not work). Xnews, Agent and Gravity are far superior.

It's called FREE AGENT.

It is FREE.

Free Agent is good, except that there is no kill-file.

Hmm, another pariah here, but I got security features on high alert and coupled with Norton AV and a firewall I have been protected so far, even when I opened a message that contained code that should have gotten OE to freak out.

See I don't have IE installed on my computer any more at all so that's one vulnerability gone and with AVG and Zonealarm I've been safe enough.
