Recondite War discussion thread Mk II

I was wondering that myself, but Necronlord described either of the descent options as being fairly exposed earlier, and we're on a big staircase. I'm thinking we're fairly exposed (unfortunately).Block wrote:Is there cover nearby or anything like that? And bah to missing with an effective BS of 65
Which makes my suicide charge with the shotgun even more exciting. Hope one of these jokers has an autogun that survives the fight so I can get something with a bit more reach...

I rolled 92 for you.Block wrote:Is there cover nearby or anything like that? And bah to missing with an effective BS of 65
There's people. Other than that, there's only light steel bannisters and some stanchions on the steps. You could go back up onto the landing pad, and take cover.
That cover may turn out to be promethium tanks, though. You could... get back in the helicopter.
Your enemies aren't idiots (well, okay, they might be, but they have some brains) they made a point of shooting at you when there's nowhere much to hide.Jaevric wrote:I was wondering that myself, but Necronlord described either of the descent options as being fairly exposed earlier, and we're on a big staircase. You're in luck. The first one you guys just dropped certainly had an autogun that works nicely.Which makes my suicide charge with the shotgun even more exciting. Hope one of these jokers has an autogun that survives the fight so I can get something with a bit more reach...

Just ask Mercurius how well it works. I'm sure he'll engage in some calm, reasoned discussion of the merits and idiosynchracities of its machine spirit. Or maybe he'll just slap you upside the dome with a mechadendrite and flip it the bird.

There are two groups, though your characters mostly haven't spotted the other one yet. One about five to ten meters (depending on which of you we're talking about) away or less. These're the guys blatantly shooting you with autoguns. The other pair, with bigass sniper rifles (hunting rifles loaded with special ammunition) are seventy meters away, where they've got a clear view of the steps all the way up and down.
Consequently, the one remaining on the stairs, shot Darien twice in the face (not a called shot, he's just being freakishly lucky) doing a wonderful total of fifteen damage after toughness (like I said...) for that nice, critical damage chart...
The others are the guys who've shot at Merc, Crom, and Eli, so far. Who just meted out a mildly painful 3 damage after toughness to Darien.

Doesn't help. This guy is being freakishly lucky (for the moment) anyway.

Merc got his remaining wounds, and then, even though I'd probably have him drop at one, Ajax meted out nine rending critical damage right to the chest.

Hmm. That one won't be brought in for questioning, except perhaps before the Golden Throne. Ah well, you never run out of heretics.

I'm sure you can find some decent medical help in town that you can use those witch hunters' credentials to charge to the ecclesiarchy. You'll just have some scarring. Manly scarring that makes ladies swoon (well, with the uniform).Jaevric wrote:Ouch.
Oh well, I didn't need that face anyway...or something.
And probably a strong desire to get yourself one of those arbities carapace helmets.

I expect they're crowding away from you guys. But yeah, to get to them, you'd have to go up to the helipads, through over three pads (there are, thankfully, some buildings for cover if you want to try that) and then over them on a single file bridge.
I'd just take cover behind one of those stanchions if I were you, and return fire. Heretics are easier to approach when they're dead. Of course, they might run.

Are there any ambushers left in close quarters, or are we down to the snipers?

NURGLE LOVES THEM!Lancer wrote:Wait, what? They might run after we've killed them?
But no. I meant, your best chance is to shoot them, then pick their bodies. Of course, they might run off rather than get shot...
White Haven: Nope. Just one and two halves of corpse, and the pair of snipers.

Suddenly, Scar starts not only talking, but coming out with long streams of detailed instructions.
Clearly he's in his element.
