I have read that the Earths internal heat is due to radioactive materials decaying.
Talking to someone on althor board, there is the claim that:
there is a lot of dynamics involved - kinetic energy, gravitational forces, torques, shears, etc in the flows all of which gets converted into heat through friction.
Do these produce any appreciable amount of energy?

By "gravitational forces" does this person include residual heat from the collapse/collision of a bajillion dust particles and clumps of rock and debris in the formation of this little planet of ours?
