Daleks like to say that. They've liked to say it a lot since 1964. They seem to enjoy shouting 'exterminate' at their enemies.

True, but if you listen in the background, it sounds to me like the Dalek is getting bored and starts putting inflection in different places to kill the monotony.
I wouldn't be surprised if the transmission continues if he starts putting on funny accents or reading the football results.
"Bolton Wanderers, Nil, Barnsley Two. Manchester United against Arsenal - RESULT IS LATE! RESULT IS LATE!"

They're already there, just do a search on youtube for the name of the trailer from the BBC website and they'll show up - I'd give you a link but there are many copies available. And they have a plan.Bounty wrote:Any chance of these trailers popping up on Youtube? For some reason the BBC doesn't want me to see them even though I get the channel and, thus, all the other televised trailers.

Really? Cause I'm not getting much with either the episode name or the trailer titlesEl Moose Monstero wrote:They're already there, just do a search on youtube for the name of the trailer from the BBC website and they'll show up - I'd give you a link but there are many copies available. Maybe it's a punishment. "Dalek 238382, you have not been producing evil schemes and inventions at the required rate. During our next attack, you will man the radio..."El Moose Monstero wrote:True, but if you listen in the background, it sounds to me like the Dalek is getting bored and starts putting inflection in different places to kill the monotony.

I wonder why they didn't bring back Terry Molloy. It would've been great to keep the same voice at least.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Umm.. Yes. Some people do actually avoid spoilers you know.Stark wrote:Why are you spoilering things that are obvious from the trailer at the end of the episode? Are there really functional human beings who don't know that Daleks are in the finale and the story is 'get the family together and kill Davros'? I find that very difficult to believe.
And:
Oh god. Get the family together and kill Davros? I didn't know that actually. I had hoped the trailer's appearances of UNIT, Torchwood and Sarah Jane, where the entirety of their appearances. i.e: mildly amusing/dramatic cameos to set the tone.
Dude, it's nothing that isn't clear from the trailer at the end of the damn episode. That's only a 'spoiler' if you're retarded or never watch trailers; if you're reading these threads and don't want spoilers you may be reading the wrong thread. To be quite honest, the idea of shrinking a single word in a sentence to make it 'spoiler free' is ridiculous, especially when everyone already knows Davros is in the finale.
And if the episode doesn't split the Doctor off from the huge fanservice circlejerk and let them be the saviours of Earth, I'll be quite surprised. Possibly even impressed, especially if shooting Davros with a scifi gun tragically involves the deaths of Donna and Martha. Tragic. Eventually, they may have grown to become actual human beings!

you know what would impress me?
if someone actually kills one of the massive horde of advancing daleks. I'm getting tired of them advancing foreward using their uber-wank shields to stop everything that's thrown at them. It makes sense in "Dalek" where there was only one, but when there are hundreds or thousands of the buggers?
I haven't watched any of old who, so can someone tell me if there was ever a time when daleks could be brought down by concentrated firepower?

And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks
Since the writers hate guns so much, it seems unlikely we'll see any realistic response, just more 'dudes with small arms shooting ineffectively' scenes. I mean, these are the people who, in order to show a stronger military response, showed British Army troops shooting a Stinger at Cybermen!
In the older series, Daleks were nowhere near as tough. A charge against the casing or a 60s-era recoilless rifle were enough to consistently blow them to smithereens (and perhaps even jonesereens).

Really old daleks could be beaten by being pushed over. They were, however, completely different, much cruder models.
And frankly, modern guns shouldn't do anything, and modern larger scale weapons should be pretty much paralysed by being dependant on electrics. I suppose you might have a reasonable chance if you got an older tank with minimum electrics to be jammed, but then you'd still have to get the drop on the daleks...

Ffft. Ian Chesterton isn't a luddite! And to be fair to 'em, they cut the power by pushing it onto a cloak (!) first.Stark wrote:The REALLY old ones could just be taken apart by hand and climbed into and driven like a golf cart. A foam cloak that was half empty space! It was more 'space doily' than cloak, no matter what those Thals said.
But I mean the Daleks; they stayed behind on Skaro after the proper Daleks left post-Genesis to rule the universe, and they were ridiculously primitive even compared to the Genesis Daleks. Backwards fundamentalist Daleks I call them. Shame the episode didn't have the glass Dalek guy, though.

Funny new clip was just on The One Show Donna's granddad shoots a Dalek in the eye stalk with a paint gun...the paint evaporates on its shield and it screeches: "My vision is NOT impaired!

Well, he's fought the Daleks before.
Stark's relentless doomsaying aside, I'm looking forward to this.

"So you want to live on a planet?"
"No. I think I'd find it a bit small and wierd."
"Aren't they dangerous? Don't they get hit by stuff?"
