Weirdly awesome. Still, I'm going with the hypothesis that we're not seeing the whole fleet there. I'm sure they've got fighters and battle pods and Queadluun-Raus.

I wouldn't mind if it's explained that the UN Spacy halted production of and mothballed the old-style Zentradi ships in favor of the Neo Nupetiet-Vergnitzs and the Zentradi-variants of the newer UNS ships.

Which is awesome. The Queadluun-Rau is one of my all-time favourite mech designs, and it's always good to see them in action.

I think you're over thinking this. We see one shot of a bunch of old ships from an established fleet. Why would they be replaced? These are ships that have been around for thousands of years so why get rid of them? And also have to give the animators the benefit of the doubt. They're gonna grab whatever ship looks iconic and/or pretty.

This episode was total deculture. From the new purple dude being crazy to Ranka showing up with Michel( whose Valkyrie has huge speaker pods), this episode was totally Macross. Especially at the end when the Macross shows up.

I wonder if it's really the Macross. Wasn't it decomissioned and chilling in Lake Global last we saw it at the end of Macross Plus? It's either alien trickery or something funky happened in the 12 years since Plus that they're neglecting to tell us.

Also what're the chances of the Kamjin clone coming back for revenge since we never see the body blow up? If being a backstabbing bitch is part of that Zentradi model's genetic stock, I'm sure showing up for payback when you least expect it is too.

How do we know it's the SDF-1? Couldn't it be a derelict battle section from any of the Macross ships?

It's the Macross. It's one of a kind. The closest thing was the SDF-2 which was converted into the Megaroad-01. If you watch the preview for the next episode, "Memories of Global," you see the Macross flanked by some Guantanamo carriers so evidently they decided to take the old girl out for a walk. By the way, the new crazy guy's name is Temjin and he loves the rainbow carrots.

The ASS-1 the Macross came from does not look like that. There's only one Supervision Army gunship that was turned into a human battleship which was later heavily damaged only to be rebuilt with a pair of ARMDs for arms.

Huh, yeah. I had forgotten how much rebuilding the humans did. Oh well, we'll see if they can make this into anything even remotely resembling sensible.
