I think they should just pay Big West an obscene amount of money and have Jetfire done right as a VF-1S.Admiral Valdemar wrote:I would kill to see a YF-12 Jetfire engage Starscream over Mission City, fucking over the streets as others fight on the ground, then Starscream trying to bug out, only for Jetfire to go after him and have one nuclear equipped death match in LEO.
I'm picturing the dogfight at the end of Macross Plus. With ILM in charge.

I understood that was her actual accent, as she is an Australian actress and Bay encouraged her to use it to help maintain a "global" feel to the film. Of course, she could've been embellishing it.Stark wrote:But her outrrrrrrrrrrrageous acceeeeeeeent! lol.

That is the one thing I want to see in Transformers 3, if they can get it, a Rail based one. I mean, I'm talking a massive FPH40 duking it out with one of the bigger 'Cons. Otherwise, fighter action? F-22 vs its older sibling SR-71? Fuck yeah!

Locomotive based Transformers are made of victory. I thoroughly endorse this.Sea Skimmer wrote:You know I really want a GG1 locomotive as a transformer myself; I can’t get too excited about an SR-71 because it’s probably not going to zoom past at mach 3.4 and 95,000 feet chasing Starscream or Megatron…. Sigh if only they could use the YF-12 at Wright-Patterson instead and have a hypersonic dogfight.

It's greatly exaggerated, like most "australian" accent's in movies. The actual australian accent apparently doesn't sound australian enough for most audiencesTithonusSyndrome wrote:I understood that was her actual accent, as she is an Australian actress and Bay encouraged her to use it to help maintain a "global" feel to the film. The density of railroads in the Virginia-Maryland-Pennsylvania-New York axis is pretty damn high, and the locations the movie just filmed at in Pennsylvania (Bethlehem-Philadelphia) are just absurdly riddled with tracks. Many of them are very little used too, so filming would not be terribly difficult. Heck even LA has a pretty big railroad network, including some of the only recent construct of heavy railroads in the US (Alameda Corridor). Plus the thing would STILL be a transformer, it can transform and walk if it has to switch tracks. Personally I think the locomotive leaping in the air, half transforming to change direction, and then landing back in locomotiv form on a different track on an overpass going a different direction would be an awesome quick shot.Vendetta wrote:The only trouble with a locomotive as an alt is that it's got a fairly limited range of movement, especially for a US set film, since roads are everywhere, but rails not so much.
You’d need to write the script with a locomotive transformer in mind (ideally one from each side which are hunting each other across the entire North American rail system), but that’s not too big a deal. Plus it’s a movie, its not like railroad track has to actually connect all the places you want complete with proper switching and acceptable speed limits, you just need to be able splice footage together to make it look the way you want. More then enough Americas love trains to make a locomotive an acceptable character as well.
Well, anyway, I’ll hold out hope, maybe write a letter after Transformers 2 comes out, a third movie seems extremely likely though maybe without Bay at the helm.
Hehe, maybe a decepticon could be intent on derailing a train loaded with nuclear waste casks heading to Yucca mountain, leading to a fight on a vertical lift railroad bridge in which said giant steel waste casks are used as blunt weapons.

True, but that really doesn't live up to the Robots in Disguise thing, does it?Sea Skimmer wrote:Plus the thing would STILL be a transformer, it can transform and walk if it has to switch tracks. Also, as you say, the script would have to be written specifically around the concept of rail-bound transformers. That might be cool for an episode of a TV show, but I don't think it could carry a two hour movie.
*snicker* Of course you do, Overload. That is, unless it's Astrotrain.SirNitram wrote:Locomotive based Transformers are made of victory. Nitram, slightly high on cough syrup: Do you know you're beautiful?
Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.

I could see the use of Yucca mountain as a potential weapon by the Decepticons. They could have a massive Magnox-esque transport train get copied by several combiner Decepticons and go and breach the facility and steal waste to disperse over urban areas and throw the Autobots and Terran forces off the scent of any major attack (say, with a CVN sized Decepticon hitting NYC harbour and walking on D.C.).
You could even have it transform while still in alternative mode into a WWI/II style armoured train before having it go into robot mode with all manner of heavy artillery sprouting from the thing.

Did you even see the first movie, in which transformers fight a battle in the middle of a city with thousands of people watching? Disguise is hardly an issue, and the things could use normal switching when they don't want to be noticed.Vendetta wrote: True, but that really doesn't live up to the Robots in Disguise thing, does it?
You don’t have to make the whole damn movie about them, I was suggesting just one two of the things which would fulfill a subplot, that is hardly an overwhelming demand and probably a lot more workabul then the concept of a CVN turning transformer. Railroad track is rather more common then America ports deep enough for supercarriers.
