I'm going to be selling my EA-18Gs soon, simply because they won't be able to adequately perform the escort jamming role, since the F-14s will be going so much faster than the F-18s. I'll be buying some new build F-14s and partnering with the IRT to have them converted to EF-14Gs.

It'd be possible to convert a F-18F to EA-18G, but not an E. I'm selling all twelve of my EA-18Gs. If you want them, you can get them as they're replaced by EF-14Gs.

So essentially EF-14Gs are similarly configured but faster? That's interesting. How much do these cost?

Talked it over with Phong... The F-14Fs would be about $80 million, with another $11 million in extra cost for the Growler upgrade. So they end up about half again more in cost than the EA-18Gs. Of course, they also have a pair of 40k lb thrust class engines, and are designed to supercruise.

I'm replacing them because they can't fulfill their primary mission effectively, which is escort jammer. However, this is entirely due to the speed differential between the F-14F and the EA-18G. If you have a carrier wing which is based on the F-18, then you might as well buy the EA-18G, since it'll have a high commonality with your existing air wing, and be able to effectively conduct escort jamming.

Honestly we all would have been fine and I think even Shep would have toned things down if Bean hadn't fucking SHIT THE POOCH over everything. We had internaitonal consenus, we had half of the UAR engaged and actively supporting drawdown of forces, we had everybody actually agreeing to be nice under some interpretation of nice. Then Bean decides to be the big gorilla in the pen and fuck with everybody.

If I haven't mentioned it Bean I'm still fucking pissed that all the work I did with behind the scenes diplomacy and in front of the scenes diplomacy to actually get the UAR talking to the MESS and FUN got shit on by your dick waving.

Wait, a number of us use F-35Cs. Is it possible to integrate a similar package on those, or will a F-14F do the trick as well? (I recall the speeds for both aircraft are similar?)

The TXAF F-14F is an even more over-engined version than the F-114 in IRT service. It will have roughly twice the thrust of the F-35C.

The F-35 is a bit incapable of accepting the Growler upgrade, since you need a WSO for it, and the F-35 is a single seater.

The problem is that it was a super-fast cruise missile, while IIRC our laser is for shooting satellites.

Um. Nuclear ramjets. And secondly, the missile was unarmed. Not even conventional explosives were on board. 30 tons moving at 2,000+ MPH hitting the ground will still cause a huge shockwave, not to mention the overpressure from the missile's wake...

This was a test of the weapon systems' secondary "irradate then smash into something" ability. Full up testing of nuclear capsules from this is scheduled for the neverhood testing range in about 3ish months.

I can't help but note that several countries have the same weapons "inherited" during the cross over.

So there are probably several hundred TLAMs out there with fabrication plant stamps that still say "Raytheon, Arizona" on them. In the hands of several countries.

I ain't suggesting anything, but if one or more of those were to go slamming into the airbase where the missile originated from it would be pretty hard to track down who fired 'em. Especially if launched from a sub.

Zablania is indeed a part of the FUN. They may not have had active patrols in the area, but then they probably figured it wasn't necessary.
