Ah, you're right, rather do that instead
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

Damage left. DH is painstakingly realistic in its first aid mechanics.

To re-tune the vox beads, I think you'd need a vox set, or get Merc to fiddle about with them.

Also, as a point of interest, I do have some degree of mechanical skill 'cause I'm a sweatshop worker or something. So while I can't necisserily fix a hypo-quantum-subatomic-fluxamadoodle, I can assist in such endevours. So if anyone needs a little boost to their rolls, give me a yell.
Mmm. Rolls.

Hmmn, I was going over the trades available for Techpriests, and I think it's a serious oversight that we don't have Armorer as an available profession.
Also, I like how Inquisitor's Handbook lets you link certain skills, making otherwise useless skills like Logic (Int) capable of boosting associated but far more useful skills like Tech Use (Int).

I'd wondered about that myself. I mean, the kind of Techpriests that would get recruited by the Inquisition are probably the same ones that would be inclined to tinker...y'know, the curious sort. It'd be overpowered if the Techpriest could start mass producing bolt pistols and ammunition for the team, but being able to make modifications (hopefully upgrades, but if the skillfail is bad enough...) to existing weapons would add some flavor.Lancer wrote:Hmmn, I was going over the trades available for Techpriests, and I think it's a serious oversight that we don't have Armorer as an available profession.

Have you seen the mechanics for creating stuff? In most cases, it would be cheaper to buy a new bolt pistol than it would be to get all the stuff needed to craft one.
Of course, if you're stuck on Sodallagain (that's an actual planet in 40k ), you can try to cobble something together (and indeed, some of the weapons in the Inquisitors Handbook are "poor-mens bolters"), but they're just as liable to blow up in your face as they are likely to kill what you're aiming at.

Here's a question for you guys. How do you folks feel about more open ended or normal missions? Such as "go to Scintilla, and report on the operational efficiency of the Magesterium there" for example. I've at least one solid idea for that kind of thing I'm planning to give a whirl. I'm thinking it might be interesting to try and demonstrate some of the more ordinary work you guys do. In between getting shot at by the Black Legi- oops. I've said too much.

Would that be part of our Witchunter cover, or would that take place after the far more pressing issue of missing psykers? I don't mind the idea, but in the middle of a heretic hunt would be an odd time for it.

Oh, next assignment. I mean after you're done here. Either you solve this case, or it's your replacements.White Haven wrote:Would that be part of our Witchunter cover, or would that take place after the far more pressing issue of missing psykers? Incidentally, Merc's failure to get the vox bead to cooperate... rolls of 86 are bitches. I got something like that one time, when my tech-priest character was trying to operate (operate!) a servitor in an administratum restauraunt. Three failed Tech Use checks in a row... So humiliating.

If and when the Black Legion shows up, I'm pretty certain that it would be a fair time to break out the =I= badge and call in every favor we can. They're not the type to just pop up, set up a cult, grab a few psykers for kicks, then dissapear back into the warp. When they show up, it's to conquer and enslave.

...Uh, wasn't someone going to go with Scar? Does he have a vox bead? How embarassing is it going to be to explain that we misplaced one of our Guardsmen and could we please be issued a new one?
Especially since he was chasing the heretic and we let him do it without the rest of us...I wonder if the Inquisition will accept "I got shot in the face! Twice!" as an excuse for not going with him when they start arranging executions. Or if they'll accept the excuse and execute me anyway.

Incidentally, if you'd gone to the PDF, they'd have told you pretty much the same thing. Save that they think the 'forcers are due ot knock it down. But the 'forcers know a little more anyway.

That makes me want to start asking some very pointed questions about the PDF lieutenant who was going to whine at us for blowing it up.NecronLord wrote:Incidentally, if you'd gone to the PDF, they'd have told you pretty much the same thing. Of course, how to do that without being guilty of abusing OOC knowledge...

Yeah, well, it's not too hard to manufacture a situation in which I might have an excuse to ask questions like that. Going to the PDF base and finding out that they'd expected the Arbites to knock it out would do it, though a certain degree of "bureaucratic miscommunications" would explain the problem as well. But the phrase "manufacture a situation" indicates abuse of OOC knowledge, too.
Of course, the poor dumb PDF officer may be totally uninvolved and you're screwing with my head.
