As I mentioned, I wouldn't mind discussing some of his points - but only one at a time.

He needs to be disciplined. I wouldn't ban him outright - we need to hand him sufficient rope to either hang himself or haul himself out of hole he's digging for himself.

He's a garden variety VI, at best. Yes, he does attempt to engage in debate, but his debating toolkit comprises solely of "suffocate opponent with verbal diarrhea." Some of it is sort of interesting, yes. Much of it, however, is entirely unrelated batshit ranting out of left field . . . in fact, it seems like he uses debates as an excuse to launch into lengthy excursions into moonbat territory.

I'm more inclined we just follow procedure.

I've shoved his shit into the HoS because it's blantant hijacking mixed with his double talk. He doesn't debate as much as he wishes to bury his shit under fifty million words.

First we title the retard, because he's more then earned babbler. And see if he shapes up within a week.

If he continues, we temp ban him.

If he doesn't get it after that...out the door. He's not the worst, but his wall of text response and inability to actually debate is getting tiresome.

A title should suffice as a warning and chance to learn humility. If he continues in the same vein as before, further actions can be taken, but I see no reason to act precipitously.

Agreed. So far, he does not seem to be causing any more trouble than simply polluting the boards with babble. He is more incompetent than malignant, but he clearly does not know how to discuss anything coherently or even to look up the board's rules.

For now, a by-the-numbers approach will do. No need to undertake extraordinary measures to deal with a yabbering fool.

If you are willing to wade through it the guy has some valid points. He just needs to get the "structure my arguments, edit them appropriately, use the right thread, and use board formatting" bit down. Honestly his signal to noise ratio compares favorably with some others here.

Out of curiosity, when we decide to title someone, do we send them a PM with a link to the thread their punishment was decided in, or some other kind of notification as to what exactly they are doing that they are being reprimanded for?

Well for starters the discussion thread on the Senate is suually a good thing to point to as cases like this, which are non critical, I tend to ask for at least a few days debate before moving to avote. That means he could certainly shape up, or at least make an effort to improve, before we move forward and if not well then on to a vote we go and see where the pieces land.

Side note to Marina: "Inactive" is mostly a consideration for voting in regards for me to get a count for quorum so there is not a restriction (since I don't know of any way it would be possible) in terms of motions or comment.

Having read his fanfic thread hijack, it's apparent he needs a grammar coach - no, an editorial staff - no, to be thumped on the head with Strunk & White in the vain hope that something will sink in.

I don't feel the need for anything stronger than a VI at this point, but can "For crying out loud learn to write clearly" be a part of his official reprimand?

Just title him now and if he doesn't shape up, ban him. He's already been given advice on how to make better posts several times and he has ignored it every time. So my patience for continued wall-of-text bullshit is very thin.

Actually, in some instances he has attacked either the person giving advice, or the advice itself.

I guess we should ask if his transgressions warrant the creation of a custom title? Since many here seem to feel he has potential if he'd un-knot his sentences, maybe a custom made title would indeed by preferable?
