So I stare wistfully at the Lightning for a couple of minutes. Two missiles, sharply raked razor-thin wings, a huge, pregnant belly full of fuel, and the two screamingly powerful engines that once rammed it from a cold start to a thousand miles per hour in under a minute. Life would be so much easier if our adverseries could be dealt with by supersonic death on wings - but alas, Human resources aren't so easily defeated.

Nnot quite. According to the Master in Trial of a Time Lord, the Valeyard was an incarnation of all the Doctor's evil that somehow got spat out during his last regeneration. And you just know that this "regeneration that never was" or "Doctor 10.1" will never get mentioned again (although frankly I wouldn't blame Moffat if he wanted to draw a line under it).petesampras wrote:13th is the Valeyard. Can't really use him for the TV show.
All in all, it's kind of sad that the pretty good but not in any way great Army of Ghosts/Doomsday is by far the best series finale of the new Doctor Who.

They'll give him a new regeneration cycle, just like they gave The Master.Crazedwraith wrote:Just a thought: The Doctor used up an entire regeneration in this episode: Tennant is technically the 10th and 11th doctors. Only two left...

Technically, he's an alternate-thirteenth. Could be Rose's quasi-Doctor, if we assume he won't really age normally.petesampras wrote:13th is the Valeyard. Can't really use him for the TV show.

Wonder if Mickey will wind up in Torchwood or UNIT

A big resounding meh of an episode. Gave it a 2 almost purely based on the German Daleks and seeing all 6 people piloting the TARDIS.
Other than that it was anti-climatic, yet again another kind of reset button finale, RTD is still afraid to kill people, another Deus Ex Machina pulled out.
Donna on her annoying talentless best yet again, honestly when Davros zapped her i was hoping she was dead.

He got a contractor to do the work on the Reality Bomb. Can't help it if he didn't listen to the Powerpoint presentation they gave on it.Crazedwraith wrote:I just remembered: Davros can't do science. His device cancelled out 'the electric field' which I take to means shut down the electrostatic force. Too bad that's not what holds atomic nuclei together.

That was fucking awful. Not only did they do a cheap cop-out on every single aspect of the cliffhanger but they also gave us a cheesy happily-ever-after ending with Rose and ruined the Daleks so utterly that even I, a Dalek fanboy, am going to have trouble taking them seriously the next time they inevitably show up.
If this poll ran into negative numbers, I'd give it that. Jesus.

That was an option, though I went a more interesting route.Crazy_Vasey wrote:That was fucking awful. I liked it better on second viewing (I watch it again with Zaia). I still think the Daleks were treated criminally cheaply, and almost became a big flashy bangy pointless background image, but it was ok. I voted it a 3.
I'm still glad RTD won't be touching another finale (I quite like a lot of his stand alone episodes).

All those comments this series about the bees disappearing never got followed up on, did they?
I wonder if it'll be something for next year. Or just nonsense sprinkled in as a red herring...

Well it's RTD so it's likely to be a red hering

That was probably the most un-even piece of TV I've ever seen. What was the point of the Rose-plot? You could have exercised the whole bloody thing & still reached the same point.
At least thats the end of Rose (thank fuck). If I have to see that tooth-faced troll moon over the Doctor again I think I'd kill.
Now, regarding the end of the episode. I liked it. I liked Donna, I thought it was good to have a WOMAN travel with the Doctor & interact with him in a mature & not-an-I-sqee-for-you-doc-tor fashion. I was impressed by Catherine Tate & felt that the way she left was genuinely heart-breaking.
Too bad that bit of great drama was ruined with some Daleks & shit.

The bees were referenced last episode. Some of them were running away because they knew what was happening, apparently.Manus Celer Dei wrote:All those comments this series about the bees disappearing never got followed up on, did they?

Thinking about it ... just who was it that picked up the Masters ring from his funeral pyre at the end of the season three finaleAdmiral Valdemar wrote:Needs Rani.

I haven't seen the episode yet but I've seen reports on this thread that they brought back the Cybermen. Are these the real Cybermen making their first appearance in the new series, or is it the Cybusmen again?
I hope it's the Cybusmen. The Cybermen are pretty much the only major recurring aliens that RTD hasn't had a chance to fuck up.
