A very easy way for the Empire to wipe out thier enemies....

Post by Ben Ingram »

The Empire could simply send a huge fleet to Earth, Q'u'o'nos, Bajor, and Romulus, berform a BDZ, and escape just as the Feds arrive thanx to the speed differences between warp and hyperdrive......

Or send a couple of ships a piece, BDZ and then hang about to kill the fleets.....

Except for planetary defenses (both fixed and in fleet form) already being there.

Not that that matters given the ship to ship power differential.

Yes, but we all know that the Federation doesn't possess planetary shields or ground-based weapons.

We've seen it countless times that ships can simply fly to a planet and start bombarding it, and they use neither ground support weaponry or planetary shields to stop them.

I agree with TheDarkling....at least about potential defences...though with the sheer power differences it still isnt a big deal....

Star destroyers carrying 150 meter rocks in their hangar bays drop out of hyper space, move them out of the bays with tractors, and let them fly towards where the planet will be at relativistic speeds from a few light-weeks out. No problem.

We have only seen the after effects of one planetary bombardment on a federation world and we know surface based weapon installations exist.

And what planetary defenses might these be?

There are hundreds of easy ways for the Empire to win.

But just like with the rebels, the Emperor will plan something so complex and devious that Blofeld himself would go green with envy, whilst leaving every possibility for someone to thwart his scheme.

I can see it now. Vikings in horned helmets torturing English peasants shouting "Dialog does not overide visuals! Do you have proof to back up your idiotic assertions, or did you pull them out of the same place you keep your head? I'm going to rape your wife and daughters, hatfucker!" while the monastary burns in the background and some hapless Saxon is beaten to death with a copy of the Ep. II ICS.

Well no, we'd spare the Saxons, for their tribal name is akin to that of one of the Prophets, and surely that is a good sign. But since I'm afraid "Norman" kinda sounds like "no man" as in "where no man has gone before", all Normans were to be killed on sight.

Ben, in all of the posts I've seen, all you've done is create another potential tactic that the Empire COULD use to defeat the UFP and its allies in the AQ. The strategy is not that difficult. One large fleet of between 50 and 150 ISD's (or equivalent) is needed. It goes in and blows stuff up. Now, many people disagree with that, which is the heart of the debate. The problem with what you're doing is that it opens everything up to "Oh yeah? Well, here's what would really happen..." And then the battle lines are drawn in something that is essentially meaningless. The point is that the exact strategy used by each side is irrelevent, due to the massive technological and industrial disparity between the two sides. THAT is the heart of the debate. If the Empire is shown to be able to destroy a GCS (or equivalent) with a single capital ship, as most people here contend, then the exact manner in which that capital ship goes about defeating its opponent is irrelevent.

1. Why would the Empire need to Escape? The key to winning a war against a ST faction is to destroy as many of their ships as possible since they have pitiful contruction rates compared to the Empire.

2. All those planets have resources the Empire would possibly want and one especially critical resource. SUBJECTS/CITIZENS. A few hundred billion citizens would contribute nicely to the Imperial Economy. A BDZ renders a planet useless and the Empire would want a place for settlers as well. Q'o'nos might be a good candidate though for a BDZ given the fact that Klingons wouldn't be the most "loyal" subjects.

3. A Huge Fleet isn't necessary for a BDZ, it should take no more than 3 Star Destroyers.

4. Im pretty sure Wong has this strategy in a very similar form on his site in the Tactics section under "Imperial War Campaign"

From newbie to newbie: No shit, sherlock.
The gift of Superman is the same in his universe as ours. It's not about his powers, his costume, his persona, it's about the using the gifts he has to help people. We all have gifts too, maybe we can't leap tall buildings in a single bound, but maybe we're good with math, maybe we're charming. We can use our gifts -whatever they are- to help people. We just need to make that choice. And Superman shows us that it's possible.
