Maybe he should use that Christian Jobs website that showed up in the bottom ad. Anyone else see that?
Also, why isn't he generating revenue off of internet ads? Honestly, if you generate significant traffic and can demonstrate that your demographic is highly uniform, you can get a fair bit of money from ads. You won't be able to feed your gaggle of six kids, but hey, it's something.

There are no Internet ads on his website, but I suspect that's because he can't guarantee the ideological purity of those ads. You're forgetting how profoundly uptight this guy is.Alferd Packer wrote:Maybe he should use that Christian Jobs website that showed up in the bottom ad. Anyone else see that?

Pity. His material is comedy gold. I was actually looking forward to his review of Wall-E.

Oh, right. Good point. Now that I think about it, I've seen blaring "PROTECT YOURSELF FROM HEPATITIS WHILE ON VACATION" ads on travel websites, which I doubt they're crazy about. Similarly, the ad package they'd run on this guy's site might include something even moderately Christian, like eHarmony or whatever. Oh well, I guess he'll just have to call for the waaaahmbulance some more.Darth Wong wrote:There are no Internet ads on his website, but I suspect that's because he can't guarantee the ideological purity of those ads. How is this different from standing at the end of a freeway ramp holding a sign reading will offer Conservative Christian Opinions for food - wife and hungry kids God Bless?
It sounds like he's basically saying that he's not receiving as much charity as he'd hoped for and that his avoiding-getting-a-real-job scam is going belly-up.

It's not like Google Ads is going to attach a porn link to this guy's site, they get tailored pretty well. And if he's really anal he could just make an ad deal with an individual organization, like say, the Discovery Institute.Darth Wong wrote:There are no Internet ads on his website, but I suspect that's because he can't guarantee the ideological purity of those ads. What it means is that the website is his full-time job. If it can feed his family, then it means he doesn't have to get a real job, so he can continue doing this movie review thing full time.Kanastrous wrote:ghetto edit: what I mean to say is, if you're collecting donations for your reviewing project, aren't you supposed to be spending it on that, rather than feeding yourself and your family?

He also claims to have fostered 29, and fathered 2. He even provides this cute-yet-scary graphic;Solauren wrote:I have serious doubts about the guys claim to have adopted 6 children.
and of course a picture of himself;
Is that even vaguely plausible, and if so, WTF was the adoption agency thinking?

its totally possible, but my question is how is he not recieving financial suypport for being a foster parent?Starglider wrote:Solauren wrote:

Actually if he has even basic grant writing skills I am sure he would be able to have his project "Funded". Either way he needs to develop a sustainability plan that doesn't rely on one source of income for his projects. Four donors is the dumbest funding strategy I have heard of to date.
Is it me or does the graphic of himself look a little bit ripped across the chest? i mean sure bruce is taller, but hes kind of spindly in comparison to The Man Of The House.

He probably is. A lot of people use foster children as an income scheme. That's perhaps how they can afford to feed their adopted children.Themightytom wrote:its totally possible, but my question is how is he not recieving financial suypport for being a foster parent?

I was about to say the same thing. I mean, I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything but I find it vaguely amazing that he considers his reviews anything more than a hobby. To me it just screams of a scam to get a free ride for all of 4 hours of work a week if that.Kanastrous wrote:It sounds like he's basically saying that he's not receiving as much charity as he'd hoped for and that his avoiding-getting-a-real-job scam is going belly-up.
He's having trouble finding a place that doesn't discriminate against Christians in their hiring practices?
Hmmm....
...I found such a place at the Google ads at the bottom of this thread!

Morgan Spurlock turned it into a career. Pithy commentary and soap box rhetoric is definitely marketable.Junghalli wrote:I was about to say the same thing. It seems like a side effect of capitalisim that you would have a select few inovators who successfully develop an innovative money making scheme, several times their number who fail trying to emulate them and then finally the majority of idiots who can be persuaded that the new scheme is something they should pay for. maybe this guy falls into the middle category.
The proof is in the pudding. If he suddenly gets press and support and retires rich than suddenly he will gain validity in the eyes of many. At the moment it seems likely he has been voted off the economic island.
Side note he wasn't just looking for a job, he wanted a job that could support him and his hoarde of minions, so he's probably looking for a really well paying job and doesn't want to work his way up the ladder like the rest of us.

Yeah, but when Morgan Spurlock gets on a soapbox, he tries to pick things that normal people might agree with. Like fast food being disgusting or welfare being totally inadequate to live on. This guy, on the other hand ...Themightytom wrote:Morgan Spurlock turned it into a career. Pithy commentary and soap box rhetoric is definitely marketable.

I guess tax fraud a la Hovind isn't an option for him if he doesn't actually have any income? It would seem to be the obvious choice for a conservative Christian who needs more money.
Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things... their number is negligible and they are stupid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

I laughed out loud when I read that. He just didn't get it!! They rarely get even mild sarcasm.
I thought you were most reasonable Mr Wong in your attempts to get a debate of substance going, even if your initial motivation might just have been to have a little fun.
Such things in my experience generally turn out the same.

Good. They deserve better than to be raised by a self-righteous ignorant asshole who put's his faith before his family, no doubt they wouldn't have gotten a real education anyway.

Um, isn't that the norm for foster kids? The foster parents care for them until a couple is found to adopt them? Or am I confusing the terms?Resinence wrote:Wait wait, they took the foster kids off him?Shroom Man 777 wrote:Foster Children - Gone But Not Forgotten

Since he was recently having serious financial troubles I would assume that child services took a closer look at Mr. Missionary leader and took the kids back. They may have just been normally adopted out though. Maybe I'm putting too much faith in the competency of child servicesUm, isn't that the norm for foster kids?
