Ewok holocaust addressed in Star Wars Tales

It's got a big leap of logic in it though.

On the third page they're able to detect the motion of the initial five Ewoks with no problem. After the first massacre, though, they seemed to completely forget that they had sensors that could see the Ewoks.

After the firefight, there'd be a lot of burning vegetation, smoking corpses, and (if it'd happened at this point, been a while) AT-ST wrecks; any thermal/IR sensors would be thrown way out by all those heat signatures.

Just a theory.

He also wasn't looking UP in the trees where the Ewoks were.


The "maybe they don't show up" line was a reference to Aliens. It's a throwaway joke, like the entire comic, basically.
