The Secret Service is there to protect the office, not the man. If there's a lawful arrest or bench warrant out for one of their charges, they're obligated not to interfere with the operation of other law enforcement agencies. If they did, they'd be obstructing justice.

I was thinking about what happened to Caligulia, and a number of Emporers during the first century AD/CE. You know when the Praetorian Bodyguard became the leading cause of Death among Roman Emporers?
