The Regulator watched as the Ajax went with the group leaving the cars, keeping their heads down; there was something a little strange, as she looked at him, but nothing terribly odd.

Eli kept low and prepared to keep the vehicle between him and any door, at least until the guardsmen blew the melta charges. After all we are the witchhunter "Commisars" the regulators should under stand this.

Moving from cover to cover, Mithras made sure as best he could that the pillbox did not spot them. If surprise was lost, they could be in for a world of hurt real quick. No point in dying after having come this far he thought, then began praying to the Emperor he didn't just jinxed himself.

As the team got into position, Mithras placed himself in the best cover available and trained his gun on the pillbox, then the station, looking for any sign of activity. Looking around to make sure the rest of the team was ready, he spoke into the comm-bead, "Regulator, we're in position, you may begin the attack."
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

Now the vehicles were much more lightly crewed, with the departure of five¹ of the witch hunters. Enforcer Krine twitched as Scar shouted out a loud battlecry, but obligingly went on the attack, as Jaegur gunned the engine, she pulled back on the trigger of the heavy stubber, the bouncing vehicle on uncertain roads being quite ineffective as a stable firing platform.

Ajax, Darien, Eli Mithras and Mercurius, meanwhile, could feel a slight tingle on the skin as they crept nearer the auspex tower the remains of a low fence surrounded the compound, rotten wood and rusted mesh hanging off it. Ajax felt the distinctive feedback of his psychic jamming take effect². The door at the back of the STC bunker was visible, a closed plate of plasteel, ahead, and for a long moment, there seemed to be no reply, until the heavy thud-thud of a two-shot limiter on the autocannon replied, its shells exploding by the side of the first vehicle, showering its side with dirt and shrapnel.

Clearly, there was some resistance.

[ ¹ Or six, if Scar’s going with the ground-based group. Otherwise, he’s still in the lead vehicle. ² Assuming he tried to create white noise again this turn, it works… good idea, by the way, I’d forgotten he had that power. Anyway. Initiative now…]

Scar stood, attempting to compensate for the movement of the vehicle and sprayed a burst of lasfire at the pillbox, attempting to hit the shadowy figure of the gunner behind the autocannon. Without waiting to see the result of his wild burst he shouted to the driver "Keep moving fast, make us hard to hit, get us closer to that house, remember we're the diversion so that the flank attack can take out that pill box."

Darien looks at the others with him and says, "Anyone bring a grenade or two? I don't think we're lucky enough that the bastard on the autocannon left the door to the pillbox unlocked, so someone will need to run up there and toss a grenade or two in while the rest provide covering fire. If we don't have a frag, I'll run up and try to put enough shotgun rounds into the thing to do the job."

Mercurius nodded towards Mithras and took a pair of frag grenades from him, passing them to Darien. "Do not simply throw them. If you keep to the side of the bunker and move to just underneath the near corner of the gun slot, then the gunner won't notice you until after you drop the grenades through the slot. He might not even notice until they explode." He shot a glance at the house and aimed his lascarbine at the door of the house. "We will provide cover for you should anyone exit the building."

Ajax smiles thinly as he feels the aether around him begin to hiss and whine, quietly murmuring to the others to 'Stay close, if you can. Jamming the auspex.' Reluctantly, he draws his pistol rather than his rapier...he can't hit shit with it, but even with that consideration, sword versus autocannon is...ill-advised.

Eli readied his shotgun and waited to cover the rear door, any traitors exiting that way would discover the effectiveness of the boarding weapon.

Scar’s fire sizzled a dint in the surface of the pill-box, the hardened, sophisticated material resisting the intense energies. The driver nodded, turning sharply, the wide vehicle bouncing on the rubble-scree beside the road.

[And, as I think Zablorg's been busy for a few days, new initiative…]

Again snapping off a full auto burst at the autocannon, both to draw fire and to supress the gunner, Scar voxed his comrades using the vehicle system, "Hurry the fuck up, it's only a matter of time before they get lucky and hit us."

Turning the timers on both of the grenades down to one second, Darien sprints up towards the pillbox, careful to stay out of the line of fire from that autocannon -- and hoping desperately the rest of the flanking party is watching the house for more snipers.

Scar’s lasgun fire scorched the bunker again, but didn’t hit the narrow slit, meanwhile, Darien thrust both grenades into the pill-box, one popping through handily, the other rattling down into it, and was rewarded, after a second, by the intolerably loud sound of the interior of the bunker being consumed by a double-explosion, flame and then smoke surging from the narrow firing slit.

You know, that autocannon would be useful against anyone in the house if it's still intact, Darien thinks to himself, taking a quick glance into the pillbox to see how badly mangled the heavy weapon is.

Oh, so that's what happens to someone who gets caught with two frag grenades in an enclosed space. Oh well, I don't know how to shoot an autocannon anyway.

Moving around to use the pillbox as cover from any shooters in the house, Darien crouches and begins watching the windows, his autorifle braced to return fire if anyone shows themselves while he waits for the assault team.

Ajax follows along with the flanking team...right now, he's not too terrible useful for anything except making the Big Bad Men With The Big Bad Auspex Readouts more or less blindesque, and he knows it. He doesn't bother trying to even hit the pillbox on the run-up, and as the firing slit vomits flame and shrapnel a tight smile crosses his lips. Now that the autocannon's been neutralized and the team is nearly within range of the building, he holsters his laspistol and draws his sword with an expression of palpable relief; in close quarters he's far more comfortable of his ability to competently defend himself, "Well, I'd say they know our rough location by now, given the rather incredible volume of that little number, but what say we get inside before they have time to narrow things down, shall we?

The enforcer’s vehicles skidded to a halt by the gutted firing position, and took off from her position at the rear of the vehicle, the driver quickly taking over the heavy stubber, as she hefted a power maul, of old but clearly serviceable Arbities vintage. The second vehicle parked up, its front sections obscured by the pill-box, and its driver likewise clambered into the back seat to take over the gun, “Everybody ready?” she asked, as the enforcers on the stubbers began an overwatch on the facing window and door of the house.

“I assume the Emperor would be best served by trying to go in with minimal damage to the equipment?” she said, looking at Mercurius for confirmation.

[No new initiative just yet. But more free actions if you want them… Stetching the definition of a free action a bit, as it's a fairly light vehicle, feel free to jump off as part of that.]

Mercurius nodded. "It would be most helpful if the machine spirits were not damaged. However, I'm quite certain that they would be willing to suffer some injury to see the Hereteks nullified, so long as they are tended to afterwards."

Landing nimbly beside the Enforcer, Scar nodded. "Lets finish them off."

As the group prepared to move, one of the heavy stubber operators, thinking he saw movement, opened fire on the door, followed instantly by the other heavy stubber firing off a similar rattle of full auto fire that smashed windows and gouged sizeable dints in the wall. Despite their enthusiasm, there was no sign tha tey were having any effect, and they stopped firing for a moment to allow the witch hunters to advance.

[new initiative, of course]

Setting his stun grenade for a two second delay, Scar lobbed it through the open door, waited for the detonation and stormed through, spraying a burst at anything moving.

Switching to his borrowed shotgun and moving in behind Scar, Darien immediately turns to the left and gets out of the doorway to let the next person in, sweeping that side of the room with the barrel of his weapon, his finger resting on the trigger as he prepares to shoot anyone that Scar misses.

Staggering back from the door, were two men, one tall, broad, dressed in the toughened leather material that seemed popular among Spergen’s working class, the other, gaunt and haggard, possibly as the result of too much drug use, dressed in a scruffy cream coloured coat. The broad criminal toted a chainsword, functional and serviceable looking, while the other, was wearing a rebreather, and clutching a small laspistol and a shining, expensive mono-knife. Scar fired three times, and hit three times, the first in a heretic’s leg…

[A solid hit with a semi-auto burst… post how many hits you want on each opponent in this thread or the other, as you please. At least, if you've time, otherwise, I'll randomise it in a bit to keep the speed of the game up. Darien, meanwhile, manages, should you not kill both, to hit the ceiling.]

Mercurius swept in from the side behind Scar and Darien and moved into the gap between them, firing his brass and rust-red lascarbine in measured bursts at any heretek still standing. Anyone near the doorway was likely disposable muscle, just like the autocannon-gunner they had just dealt with.
