Drunk helps extinguish blaze!

Post by TheMuffinKing »

Hancock?

BERLIN (Reuters) - Firefighters called to a blaze at an apartment building in a southern German town were astonished to discover a fully equipped extremely drunk imposter in their ranks, police said on Thursday.

On hearing the alarm, the 38-year-old man had rushed to the fire station, was helped into protective clothing and helmet by unsuspecting firefighters and boarded the fire engine, a spokesman for Suedhessen police said.

After arriving at the apartments, firefighters quickly realized the man was an imposter and called the police, he added.

"When fire breaks out, it's all hands on deck!" the man told officers when questioned about his motives. He was released without charge after sobering up overnight in a police cell.

I'm not quite sure how they didn't notice how drunk the guy was. Did they just assume he didn't get enough sleep, or is he a really coherent drunk?

So the guy wasn't actually an off duty firefighter? Why did the firefighters at the station not only help dress a stranger but let him get in their engine and come with them? I could have understood it if it was simply an off duty fireman who happened to be drunk going along the motions of experience but a complete stranger?

Also how the hell did the drunk get to the fire station from presumably the site of the fire and get dressed before the fire crew received the call and left themselves?

What makes you think it was the alarm of the building on fire he heard as opposed to the fire-station's alarm?

When I read this headline, I thought the guy must have put out the fire by vast quantities of post-beer pee.
Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things... their number is negligible and they are stupid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
