Best "story" music videos.

Post by weemadando »

What are people's favourite "story" music videos?

You know the ones that I'm talking about. Where there is an ongoing story through the clip.

Da Funk by Daft Punk would be one of my favourites.

I'm still thinking about others... There's a few that I can see, but can't think of the song or band name.

Static-X - Cold

Not only is it a kickass song, but it it's fun interpretation of I Am Legend. Win-win, if you ask me.

Thriller

I almost put this one up myself earlier. :)

I had forgotten about the disclaimer about not believing in the occult that was put at the beginning of the video.

It's also kind of sad seeing this video and putting it together with how completely fucked up Michael Jackson is now.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Don't come around here no more Alice in Wonderland on acid, starring Tom Petty as the Mad Hatter. Trippy, and way ahead of its time.

I like Coldplay's The Scientist video.

Even though I don't really like the song, I have to say that Prodigy's Smack my Bitch Up was a pretty good story music video with a surprising twist.

and of course

The Whole of Daft Punk's "Interstella 555". (Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger for example).
I used to have a few favs of this exact "sort", wish I could remember them :( . (Still, that's what you MTV loving chaps are for ;))

Thank you kindly sir.

And isn't Daft Punk's stuff (Interstella) just already made anime to their music? Sounds like cheating.

Interstella 5555 was produced specifically for the album Discovery. Daft Punk took their album, and the story idea, to Tokyo in the hopes of getting their favourite creator, Leiji Matsumoto*, to work on the project with them.

It probably is cheating because it's a series of music videos all strung together into a feature film. :D

*This was the guy behind Space Battleship Yamato and Uraniun's favourite anime, Captain Harlock.
